birthday crown ideas

My sister is turning 40 and we are having a surprise bday party for her. My mom wanted to buy her a crown to wear that night, but being a craft junkie and wanting to do something special for her I offered to make one. I am at a loss as to where to start. My sister and I couldn't be more different which is making it even harder for me to know where to start. My mom wants something fun and sparkly, but also tasteful. Could anyone point me to some websites or offer some suggestions?
