In my state, unless you are hsing for religious reasons, you still have to show proof of vaxes. Now I think it would be easy to claim you're hsing for those reasons, but still.
Some of the state's don't report religious exemptions, mine doesn't. And as a homeschooler I don't have to claim an exemption, so homeschoolers aren't going to be in those #s for my state either.
I seen recently another statistical chart for each state of vaccine compliance, which I think is defined differently. This graph shows those with exemptions on file. There are many who may not have filed one way or the other.
Wow! My state has the highest overall exemption rate. We must be some educated people up here in MN.
I think it's because a lot of public schools that I know of highlight on their registration form that you need proof of vaccines OR an exemption form filled out. In our school district they go so far as to say that you can file a philosophical or religious exemption if you oppose vaccinations.
I too was surprised Cali was so low. BUT does this factor in homeschooling? Or is this simply the rates for public/private school kids that have exemption forms filed at school? I'll bet the numbers are a tad higher in some areas.
I'm not too suprised since most of southern CA is very conservative, anti-crunchy. LA and San Diego are the two largest cities in CA now and both are pretty conservative overall.
