Hello, I've been ordering my eggs from Monroe Dairy (which I love). I just sent them an email to ask where the local eggs come from, because I am not interested in supporting inhumane factory farms. If it turns out that their eggs are not from a humane source, I'll be looking for one nearby! If anyone has any info about where Monroe gets their eggs or if you sell eggs, that would be great. TIA

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

I would love to know what you found out. I don't get products from there but am really becoming careful of my choice for dairy/eggs. I visited a farm in Rehoboth to buy raw milk and was HORRIFIED to see the cows!! Only 70 cows and they weren't out to pasture. All kept in little corals with chains. This was how they lived day in and day out!! I guess I assumed this only happens with large farms but not so. He sells his milk to Garelick farms btw. So they don't use hormones/antibiotics but their cows have a miserablle life!!

You should check out farmfreshri.org for info on eggs. They do it by product and then you can find the closest source.
I would think anything that says "pastured" would be good since a pastured hen is more or less pretty free to roam.
It is so sad that the lives of animals who give us our food are so often completely inhumane
You can also find eggs that are "certified humane" (I'm not sure what that all implies) at whole foods, I also don't know that they are super local.
