We are selectively vaccinating and my 13-month old twin girls have received two Prevnar shots so far. One of the twins retained a hard pea-sized lump at the injection site under the skin for about a month after the first Prevnar vaccine. The last Prevnar shot (on Monday) left her with a huge hard lump/swelling/bruise at the injection site. I am concerned about this. Is this a warning that the third shot will be worse?
The other twin shows no reaction and neither of them have reacted this way to any other shot (they also have gotten DTaP and HIB).
Also, I might just be really paranoid, but it seems like whenever they get the Prevnar shot the twin with the reaction at the injection site seems to act quite weird. She shakes her head from side to side (like shaking her head no) and just seems hyper-active overall. This happened last time too, but I just shrugged it off as normal. But now I swear I see it again...I dunno, maybe I'm just paranoid and imagining things.
Edited to add: If we stop the series now, will that help anything or is it too late anyway?
