Frustrated

Ok so dd#2 had her 1yr wellness check this week. Last week both the girls were sick with a stomach bug plus dd#2 is getting 4 new teeth. Needless to say there wasn't a whole lot of solids being consumed. Plus dd#2 has been walking for 2 months. She's trying to keep up with the 3 yr old so we're all very busy here.
Well dd#2 lost a few ounces since last visit. My ped was on vacation so we saw someone I hadn't seen before. She didn't even read my dd's chart before she came in, kept asking why she wasn't on whole milk and kept pressing me to get dd's vaxes up dated.
: I had to repeat several times why dd doesn't drink cow milk - she's allergic to it!!!! She won't drink rice or soy, she's breastfed and it doesn't bother me one bit. She kept saying "well she needs the fat for neural development". Duh I know that and I don't have "phd" after my name. She's getting it from breastmilk. I feed my kids fresh fruits, veggies and protein. They ask for it they get it (most of the time lol). I am now cooking 98% of the time from scratch. I've kept dd#2 and myself strictly away from her allergens and her skin is looking great and she's a happy babe.
Then the damn vax . Last time dd#2 had a vax she broke out in eczema and didn't sleep well for 72 hours. I told the ped back off, my mommy instinct and my research is saying no to the vax.
I'm really sick of docs and others trying to over ride me and do what's comfortable and convenient for them when it comes to my dd's allergies. It's not easy keeping a 1 yr old away from what her 3 yr old sister is eating (not often but it does happen). It's not easy but I do it because that's what I do as a mom, a good mom to my dds. I can't stand people who don't understand allergies trying to give advice on it!!
Thanks, just needed to vent to those who'd understand.

Oh for crying out loud... breastmilk contains the best fats for neural development: cholesterol and omega 3's!!!!

Listen to your gut about vaxes, that is a clear reaction. Were you able to report it to VAERS? Was she allergic to cow's milk before that?

That is so frustrating. We're on the search for a new ped for those very reasons. Our ped admitted that he knows nothing about food allergies, but still continued to pressure us on solids and vax.

I think she was allergic before that. I brought her in the end of Jan with a rash which turned out to be eczema. I never knew anyone with eczema so I just thought it was a rash. Anyway so my ped said cut out dairy and eggs. I did and it started to go away and she began sleeping better. 2 weeks later she had her 6 month checkup. Ped talked me into "one shot, to see how she does". Ignorant me at the time agreed. Turned out it was one shot with 4 vaxes (not the 2 he had promised me). I learned my lesson then. Since then no vaxes. Even though allergist and ped say it couldn't have been the vax that made her react like that. Well, she got the vax in the left leg and 12 hours later her left side only was all ezcema again and she barely slept for the next 3 days. Honestly when I told the ped and allergist about it they made it seem it wasn't worth reporting so I didn't. Is it too late for me to report it?
I've learned my lesson. Mama instinct now rules in my queendom ;-).
These docs really cheese me off. They know nothing about breastfeeding but pretend to. Every single thing I've read has sadi to keep nursing her for as long as I can. Which I will, no matter what the docs or anyone else has to say about it.
I'm just so sick of the "give her formula" and the "you must really miss (insert food here)" or my favorite "just give it to her anyway, her body needs to learn how to handle it".
They can all bite me roflmao.
eta - changing seasons my ped is usually pretty good. He'll admit to not knowing something, listens to what I'm doing for her as holistically as I can and doesn't scorn me for it. But he was on vacation and when I made the appointment guess he hadn't taken it yet. I'll be asking for him exclusively from now on. But I do wish we could go to a holistic practitioner. Where I live there isn't one and my insurance doesn't cover it.

go mama bear!

I'm pretty sure you can report to VAERS yourself though the NVIC website.
