I thought you guys had a great state mandated healthcare plan there?! What happened?

jones9985, what country are you from?

I charge $3,400.00 if paid in full by 36 weeks. I use a billing service and sometimes insurance covers.

Best of luck!

the rumors i have heard is that that great healthcare plan is causing more and more ppl to birth in hospitals b/c well..its paid for...and MW's arent always "in network".

Nh has a great law that covers homebirth..if you fit in the narrow category of being "allowed" a homebirth.

There is no mandated plan. They only mandate that you MUST have insurance, which means we have to put out our last pennies to buy disaster plans with massive deductibles, so that they wont penalize us with more taxes. There is nothing great about it.

I think I paid $3300 in 2004 (MA mw).

ETA: We did get about half back from Blue Cross.

homebirth isn't covered by insurance.

Yeah, MA insurance mandate sucks. Self-employed, dumping 12K per year into private insurance that doesn't cover a frickin cent of our midwife care and homebirths. Lovely. :

Our midwives charge $3000 if paid by 36 weeks, or $3200 if paid at birth. My best friend birthed with Nancy Wainer, who is in MA and she charged $5000.

Mine is covered in full...trick is i have to find a midwife on their plan tho that does HB. The ones covered and listed only attend hospital births. We are in RI..but would have the same insurance if we moved to MA or CT.

Not true. I have Cigna and they cover a nice portion of homebirth/midwifery services.
