Have you started your Christmas knitting?

Am I crazy for thinking about it now, or too late??

What are you knitting for Christmas this year? Please post links and pictures!

So far I am giong to knit the little pixie/elf hats out of the new LC for my kids- probably matching mittens too. And probably the knitted farm mat- but honestly a quilted one would be so much faster..... so I need to kinda decide and get cracking. Oh- not knitting- but I want to needle felt a bunch of play food and farm animals.

Last year I knitted a lot of Christmas gifts- and I just don't feel the love of making everyone handmade this year. I don't know why.

I haven't started, but plan to knit. I did make my list last night though.

So far I am looking at:
3 or 4 pairs of fingerless gloves
1 bulky knit scarf
1-2 pairs of socks
a couple string bags
one of these maybe for my nephew
and that is just the knitting. :

Shhhh! Don't tell (my ILs are over right now....)

I made this for FIL:

And I'm making this for MIL:

I have not figured out what to make SIL yet. I think I might try knitty's "Hey Teach" (since she is a teacher AND because I think it will be flattering on her....)

So far I have knit two hats. One for DS and a matching mama hat (a single mama has to do her own Christmas shopping! )

I have also knit 4 dishcloths for my father. I plan to give him about a dozen to replenish his stash. I may do some crochet top towels for him too. (He loves them!)

I am also planning to knit DS a sweater, and maybe some funky leg warmers too. I love knitting presents!!

I'm planning to do the tree scarf from Twist for MIL, and cable knit hot water bottle covers (with hot water bottle inside!) for teacher gifts I would like to do new vests for each of my boys, but I'm not sure that'll happen with the work knitting I have to do before the end of the year, LOL!

I have one Garterlac Dishcloth done in Christmas yarn, and probably four to go. Ideally, I'd like to crochet towel toppers too (also Christmas-themed). We'll see.

Two of my in-laws would like knitted socks. I picked a pattern for mil (Denmark by Nancy Bush in the book Knitting on the Road). I'm still trying to figure out a pattern for the other recipient, and yarns for both.

I'm making the Korknisse ornament-things for my handbell choir, and the Fiber Trends felted squirrel for DD.

I started knitting for xmas right after new years! I'm a slow knitter. I have managed 4 pairs of socks (but I'm keeping two of them), a pair of baby booties for a December baby girl, and want to knit a pair for dh plus some slippers for a child with leg braces that can't wear regular sized slippers.

I'm planning to do a couple of these for my soon-to-be-born niece and nephew
http://www.curlypurly.com/patterns/kimono.html
(in cotton, though - they live in Texas)

For my sister 0 she works at Colonial Williamsburg and gets tired of using just the canvas sack when she doesn't have to wear her costume. She leads school groups, so she could use something like this

For my newphew
http://www.innerchildcrochet.com/pat...ottingham.html

And then some new dishcloths for my mom and MIL. They are always begging for more! I hit up the $1 ball sale on the Peaches-n-Cream sale at Michael's and JoAnn's just for these projects.

I keep getting sidetracked making things for myself LOL.

Right now I have a pair of fingerless mittens for my SIL & a matching scarf is started, but I HATE knitting scarves so it'll be done last minute I'm sure.

I'm also planning to make the Central Park Hoodie for my sister, but might make Hey Teach instead, I think she'd get more use out of the CPH but the other one will probably knit up faster.

For my niece I'm working on a pair of Picky Pants and will make a matching Helena cardi.

For my DS and nephew I'm going to felt a large sheet of fabric (just knit it up on the machine) and then cut it so it looks like a crown then use elastic on the backside so it'll be adjustable fitting.

I'll probably do a couple pair of socks for my mom and MIL (I already had TWO pair done for my mom and she took them already LOL)

I'm scaling back my holiday knitting this year since the baby seriously cuts into my knitting time. Who knew?! Anyway, I'm thinking that this is the year of the felted coaster set. It seems to be a good way to eat up stash yarn, especially the scratchier wools, plus they'll be quick and portable knits. I'll also be knitting socks for DH, longies for DD, a hat for my niece and an outfit for niece #2 who is due right after the holidays. The nice thing about newborn knits is that they go so fast!

I haven't started yet (crochet)

But I have my list. Socks for 4 people, SIL wants a 'flappy hat' so I'm just waiting on her color picks.

I am not planning on doing much knitting for gifts this year. But I have started my MIL's scarf (she requested). And will probably do a half dozen to a dozen washcloths to pair with soap.

Nothing exciting, because this year's knitting is focused on the family. I have knit/crochet so much for charity & swaps, it's been a couple years since I made anything besides a hat or scarf for DH & DS (never made a garment for me) so this season's knitting is all about sweaters and a couple other projects for the immediate family including me - shawl and sweater.

This is my plan, too. Maybe I'll try some felted bowls. I'm also thinking of hot water bottle covers, though I'm not sure if I'll crochet them or sew them. I sewed some from flannel a few years ago, and I liked that it was not too stretchy, but it didn't seem as cozy as I was picturing, since you could still feel the waterbottle fairly well through it.

Have you ever done a Casino Scarf?

You need a coin and a die and 6 different types of yarn (as varied as you want.) It's knit lengthwise.

You assign each yarn a number (1-6) then you roll the die, flip the coin, and if the coin lands heads, you knit. If it lands tails you purl. You leave a 6-8" tail on each end of the rows, which you later tie together to make fringe.

It's kind of fun.

Let's see, I started in June, and have so far finished 2 "Calorimetry" (Knitty) for my best friends, a bunch of dishclothes, and am mostly done with a pair of Sheepy Pants longies for my best friend LO. However, I have to un-cast one leg, as it is longer than the other. (They measure the same somehow....) I also have to finish the drawstring. He's getting a matching cap as well.

I also want to make a hat for DH, and mitts for me and DS before the cold weather hits, so I need to get my rear in gear.
