trying to make baby doll carrier for a child to wear

Thread Starter
I'm trying to make a doll carrier (sort of ergo style) for my 3 yr old neice...has anyone made one of these or similar thing before...I know ergo has one, but I'm not paying 26$ for a doll carrier that will be loved, used, misused, traipsed around the farm, etc.

Any patterns or suggestions would be great.

thanks.

If it was me I'd just cut out two rectangles. I'd sew them together and leave openings for legs and at the top. I'd add on some straps and call it a carrier.

I did 2 rectangles approx 10x12, top straps were aprox 3 ft long and bottom were about 20" both by 4" wide then folded so finished was about by 2" wide.

your niece will get just as much use and pleasure out of something simple as she would an ergo-type carrier with all the bells and whistles.

let us see how it turns out. it's actually a really cute idea. i've seen them sold, but never thought to make one. i'd be interested in making one for my daughter at some point.

Here is a link to Jan Andrea's website if you need some inspiration. She has a child sized sling pattern, but not a mei tai.

You could also try to make a child sized Mrs. Peterson. Here is a link. Pics are in #17.
