Crochet Farm Mat?

Has anyone made a crochet farm mat? I've seen the knitted ones and love them and as tempted as I am to try and learn to knit just so I can make one of these, I don't think it would turn out. I'd like to try and crochet one though - has anyone tried? How big are the knitted ones? (each square? how many squares?) They just look soo adorable!

I don't crochet- but I think it is a fabulous idea! The knitted ones (at least teh LC ones) are about 3.5'x4.5'. each square is about 10"x12" and there are 12 squares with roads or paths between. I am sure that there is a crochet book with different stitches that you could use to determine what to do on each block. But ya know- anything you do will be fabulous and your children will love it!

I've never heard of one. What does it look like? I think if I saw a picture, I could probably estimate for you.
