King Richards Faire

Thread Starter
Hello all!
Anyone happen to have access to King Richards Faire tix that they aren't going to use? It's insanely expensive to get in but I would really like to go this year. I haven't been in 5 years since it is so expensive. I would ideally need two tix since my kids are little and wouldn't cost anything. Thank you so much.
Mary
PS it must rock to live in Carver, they get in for free AND get into Edaville for free!

I want to go this year but can't afford it.

Have you tried Craigslist?

I haven't been in years, but I have to ask- if it's so expensive to get in now, do they still beg for money after every performance? that annoyed me..

I didn't go last year as I'd just had my 2nd dd by c-section. But I know years ago when I had friends who performed at KRF that some of them don't get paid. Some are interns and others, well, they don't get that much if they are paid. It may have changed but I don't know.
Being a performer myself I never minded giving a dollar here and there. I know it's an added expense though.
I think we're going this year. We haven't been on a vacation in over 5 yrs. So we're going to "splurge" and go to KRF. lol

I worked there for a year and go back most years, but yikes is it expensive.

Most of the people you see performing are not paid. In fact, the wandering performers, like jugglers and musicians pay to be there, and only walk away with the money you tip them. Only major townsfolk are paid, like the king, queen, cardinal, and the like. The rest of us poor fools are just there for the experience of it. A grand total of a 15 minute off stage break, and bring your own food and water, you're expected to eat in character. Even with that, I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. It was so completely amazing and I made some fantastic friends that I still keep in close contact with. Sadly, they don't get comp. tickets either.

if you go to the website, you can get discount coupons. they have some for $1 off adult admission, or $3 off if you go labor day weekend.

My family and I went last year thanks to the generosity of a fellow MDC mama who has a store there and gets comp tix. Maybe she's around and will be able to do the same this year. It was an amazing experience but even with the 'free' tix we still spent close to $100 and only $5 was on food (we ate on the way there and stopped on the way home). If we were to go again, I would plan to at least have my DC dress up they so wanted to last year!

That would be me

I do plan on doing the same this year, as soon as I know I have tickets. Some years we booth owners get more than other years.

People who live in Carver only get free admission on opening day.

You know, I have lived in the area almost my entire life, and I've never been to KRF. I love the whole idea of it, but it's SO expensive! Even with the free kids, it would be $50 for me and DH just to walk in the door. And all that food sounds delicious, I'm sure we could easily spend over $100. Bummer.

Oh easily you could spend $100. The food, in my previous numerous years going, has gone down hill. This year we will be bringing our own due to food allergies and I'm not taking any chances with my kids.
It is, for my family anyway, a great time regardless of the food.

We'll be going this weekend along with a few friends. I'd love to know what booth is yours so I can make sure to check it out. My boys might dress up (they want to, but I can't decide if I want to risk them ruining their nice 'indoor' dressups). I'll be wearing my babe in a red patterned wrap, and I have red hair.

Well, you are in luck, I own the costume rental shop. Booth #2, just inside the front gate, to the right.

This is year 17 for me....man does time fly

I worked there for many years (my whole foster family did!) and I was paid as a beggar girl, a wench, taking tickets, being a human chess piece, a bellydancer and The Singing Executioners' Assistant. I know the town poet, at the time, was paid, also.

But yeah....the owners are @$$HOLES and treated us very poorly.

I have not been back in 10 years. I'm "over it"

I'm friends with one of the gypsy dancers, as well as a few people down in the games area. I was also friendly with a guy who worked as a vendor, and whose whole family works the Faire, but he died 5 years ago. Going over to that corner hasn't been the same since.

But yeah, even with vouchers, we always drop some serious cash there.

I've got to try and track down some tickets for this year. I need more garb, and DH jsut started into a new roleplaying game and needs costuming as well. Aah, the shopping.

We usually go. but this year we'll have to pass with the baby so little.

Yes she is! There is no way we could have gone without your help, Kristina! Since I don't own the shop I think I can mention that it is an awesome shop and that if we were to ever go again, I'd go right to her to rent some clothes for the day. The kids would have a BLAST!!!
