any crunchy mamas (or papas or anyone else) near bolinas or in any part of west marin?

I just saw your other post - have you looked into San Geronimo valley - Lagunitas, Woodacre, San Geronimo. I love Bolinas but I think those towns are much more child friendly and there is more of a community for families. I love west Marin - you're very lucky to be able to live there!

thanks jaye. we have been looking at places all over marin and it looks like we finally found a house (to rent) that is shockingly perfect as far as having everything we want but it is in bolinas and i know very little about bolinas other than the 2 mile sign stuff and that it is a good place to surf

anyhow hopfully the landlord will choose us to rent it and if she does hopfully it will be family friendly enough for us. i guess if not we can drive to other towns to do kid stuff

How lucky you are. It is so lovely there with a beautiful community spirit! I look at the real estate listings, all of the time.

Can you tell us more about what it is like to live there? I think I would love it! I'm in Mill Valley!

before we moved here we looked at a place in mill vally and went to the library there while checking the area out. you have an amazing library geargirl. living in bolinas is definitely different from any part of the bay area i have lived or spent much time in. the library here is really tiny and i think it is only open about 3 days a week and limited hours. the town itself is just very small but also it seems pretty crunchy and left wing. i have seen a lot of families and lots of children but i have yet to meet any other families. i see a surprisingly large number of strollers and very few babies being worn which seems really odd to me because there arn't a whole lot of sidewalks here. it is just a place that seems especially awkward to use a stroller. we have been called "a nice hippy family: while at the grocery store i think because i use a wrap style carrier for my son. everyone i have talked to has been really nice and lots of people say hello and greet us and everyone seems to smile at us. my husband and i are shy introverts so making friends will probably take some time for us but we really like living here. there is sooo much wildlife and the beach is just amazing. it feels like the people here really care a lot about nature and the enviroment and are pretty hardcore about it. on weekends downtown can be totally full of surfers and it can be almost impossible to find parking. not sure what else i can say about bolinas. i have spent plenty of time in places more rrual than this but it feels pretty rural it is neat because it feels rural but is only an hour from san francisco.
