baby dress

I was at the hospital with a friend and made this. I started when i got there and finished before we left, (we where there for a good 4 hours)

It was made with cottontots yarn. super soft.. size 3-6 months. I think that once the baby is too long for it, with the full skirt it could be a cute top to wear too maybe?

I don't have anyone in mind for it, so I will donate it.

Here it is

um not really lol. I remember bits and pieces from a newborn dress called Bella bambina baby sweater dress from the net I made months ago, But I only used that part for when the blue meets the yellow.. if that makes sense I made up the rest as I went on.

I made another one thats pink and mint green the other day using the same way.. I just memorized it while I was doing it.

So because I used the Bella for the one row between skirt and bodice I am not sure I can call it my own at all

its not like I plan to profit from it and the bella pattern was a free pattern, so if you would like the pattern I conjured up feel free to pm me

That's adorable!

It looks a lot like this one. I've made several in that same style with worsted weight yarn and a large hook. My almost-three-year-old can wear them with no trouble (I should lengthen them, though), and my 4-year-old wears a couple as shirts.

I'm impressed with how fast you finished.

Yeah I have made that one in the past too. This one is a little different with the shells but its very similar, Like most looser baby dresses a lot of them look a like.

I am making one up right now for my dd. Its not MY design since I am using the brain dead afghan pattern for the skirt. lol

I also make washcloths with the pattern, sometimes I see some stitch blend that I like and use it for a bunch of stuff.. so not mine at all.. just used in a different way.

I was just pointing out that pattern in case anyone wanted to make something similar. I use the same general set-up for bodices all the time, since it's so easy, and go wild on the skirt part.

Sometimes it's said that crochet patterns are like recipes--if you change three things, it's yours. If you're using a different hook, different yarn, different stitch, it's definitely yours. And if you're adapting the stitch pattern from an afghan for a dress, then it's definitely yours!

No need to explain .. the baby girl sleeper set is a GREAT set to make for a beginner!

I crochet super tight.. Like SOOO tight. I always use a large hook, and I suck at gauge. So thats pretty much why I make stuff up lol

and your right about the differences make it MINE.. But I just feel like I learned so much from other peoples patterns that its theres too lol kwim?
