I remember seeing a few posts here from time to time about mamas in the city, wondering if you need an infant seat to get baby home from the hospital. I know it can be an added expense and so I thought I'd offer this here. If it's not kosher I understand!
My second son is just about done with his Graco Snugride, height and weight-wise. We'll be installing the Roundabout for him in a week or so, and at that point I'll have a perfectly good infant seat up for grabs. The seat was used only about 4 months with each of my boys. It is a royal blue windowpane plaid. It has never been in any kind of accident (I swear!) and it does not expire until 2009 (it was purchased in 11/03 -- I will double-check the dates as soon as it's out of the car). Since we're not planning on any more little babies anytime real soon, we won't need it again before it expires and I'd be happy to pass it on to someone in need.
I also have a Snap-n-Go stroller frame for it (it's not the greatest stroller, but it's compact and works well enough) and of course the base to install it in the car. This model of Snugride can also be used without the base by threading the car's lap belt through notches on the front of the seat.
The only flaw to the seat is that the pad on the crotch portion of the harness is missing. It disappeared sometime when the seat was stored between DS1 and DS2. I did not find it necessary (our cloth dipes are pretty squishy and padded anyway) but you could cut a small circle of fleece and slide it onto the belt if you wanted.
Let me know if you or someone you know could use this. I am in Nutley, NJ (about 10 mi outside Manhattan) but I can drop this off somewhere for you within reason.
EDIT -- Looks like I have a taker, thanks!
