Weekly chit-chat August 25th-31st - Page 2

The weather is getting cool here too! I love it - I'm so ready for fall! We moved back to Canada from NC in early June so it feels like it's been summer since the end of March. I : the fall!

I still have to buy a birth pool. I went to Canadian Tire and they had one but it was only 20" high. I think I'll probably get the fishy pool but I'll have to order it online for $35 (no Targets here), unless I really feel like splurging on La Bassine. I haven't made up my mind yet.

I have a question for all you wise ladies: the last couple of days I've had this pressure-like chest flutter that makes me cough every so often. I'm not sure if it's heart palpitations or just pressure. Does this sound like a normal pregnancy thing? I don't know if I need to be worried about it or not.

I'm 14 weeks today. Woohoo....another week down.

We're getting some rain and had a couple of cooler days, meaning only in the upper 80s. Today, it's 94. Tomorrow is to be 94. And Thursday? Guess what? 94. LOL

I can't wait for fall. I loved PA and IN autumns so much.

My second labour was a beautiful birth at home and I would be sooooo lucky if things go the same way this time.
My third baby was the most overdue, 42 weeks and 1 day, but my labor was the shortest and easiest I've had so far.

Have you checked your resting heart rate?
Do you have any cold or flu symptoms?

OK All this talk of crazy 3rd births is freaking me out! LOL Both of my previous births have been short, less than 6 hours. Watch I get 2 weeks of prodromal labor, 36 hours of hard labor and 2 hours of pushing. Ugh. Hopefully just saying (writing) that our loud un-jinxed me!

I sometimes feel like my heart is racing. I just figured it was the increase in blood volume. If it is happening a lot you might want to talk to your MW/OB.

It's still in the upper 90's here. I hate summer. I want to look like this.:

This weather talk make me laugh! I can count the number of days over 65 from the entire summer on one hand! It hasn't started raining non-stop yet for months so its not fall here yet!

I'm starting to get stressed out at work and find myself counting down the days till vacation in October and ultimately mid-January when I will quit! Can't come fast enough.

I have to say I would love to visit Alaska, but I don't think I could live there. I HATE HATE how hot, muggy and nasty it gets in Tampa, nut your extreme is just too much for me too.

I love hearing the weather reports too, reminds me that we're all spread out across the country.

We left Denver this week because of the Dem. Convention chaos in the city. We're hiding out in the mountains and loving the cooler air!

Thursday Girl -- loved the belly pic with your sis! You look great!

I can't wait for fall to truly be here. And I'm so glad I'm not going to be hugely pregnant in the middle of summer.

Not me! I so wish I was going to be big in the summer- I'm having a true hate-on for February! Plus I'm angry that we had a crappy cool, wet summer that is now decidedly looking like fall (cooler, leaves changing).
February is going to be dismal- feet of snow, cold, dark, depressing. I'm having trouble accepting it.

On the other note- I hope my 3rd labour isn't going to be too different. The first 2 were short (3.5 hrs and 4.5 hrs) and simple. I am trying to work through changing my recovery, though- the first 2 weeks are always tough as I'm a heavy bleeder and I have no strength. So maybe this time I won't hemmorage, I'll feel great, and I'll have lots of energy to chase the other 2 kids around the house in the dam%^$d middle of winter, eh!?

ooohh, somebody has some issues! is this what is keeping me up at night?!:

Oh heinz28, my sister lives in denver, and my other two sisters are going son to visit her. So if you see someone who looks like me middle sept it might just be my twin!

Queen I hope your third labor is different, but only just as you specified.

I hope mine is different in that it's short and quick
post #31 of 66
I'm with the Queen. I was born in February and I still have an irrational hatred of the cold. I love the summer and was hoping to be pg in summer so I could wear flowery maternity sundresses.

It was wonderful having a late spring baby and getting to take him outside right away. Plus he learned to walk in the spring too, just in time for playground season. I'll be stuck inside with this winter baby, and have to find indoor playdates and paid activities for socializing.

Febuary is the snowest month around here and I already have a Feb baby...my oldest is Feb 3rd...my dh is Feb 13 (my due date). I will sya I liked having my ds born in late March but I prefer Feb over November when my youngest dd was born...that was a long, long winter for me!
I've had a late October baby, a December, baby, and a May baby. I have been looking forward to not being miserably pregnant in the summer. I have been very excited about having a Feb. baby. It starts to get warm here in March, so the cold isn't really an issue. It's also worked out good for me that my worst morning sickness happened this summer while we were on a school break!
My babies were born in January, December and June. June was really nice despite the heat because we didn't have to bundle her up to go everywhere. But then I loved my December birth; she was born the morning of the first big snowstorm that year and it was pretty magical to be all snowed in. I prefer giving birth in the cooler weather to the hotter weather because I get so overheated during birth. Though it was nice to be take a few slow easy walks outside in the days following my daughter's summer birth. My only concern with the winter weather really is it's ability to possibly snow my midwives in; they live on a long country lane.

My 3rd was my easiest!

oh well. i'll pretend i'm going to have a short labour up until it begins. how about that?

43 hour long labour thursday girl!? wow...

I just wanted to let you know that I went a week overdue, baby was 9#9ozs and I labored for 3.5 hours and pushed for 5mins. I am hoping #4 doesn't come too much quicker because 3.5 hours was pretty intense!

Ok experienced mamas ...
I got my paramedic-issue maternity pants yesterday. Size M. They come up to my armpits, with a panel that goes from hip to hip and from my pubic bone to my boobs!
Will I really be that big before I have to leave work? Or should I get the smalls? I thought mat sizes were consistent with pre-preg sizes?
I have to leave work at about 28-29 weeks. Will I really be that big? Should I hold onto them?
Right now I'm wearing a non-issue pair of black maternity pants, and my unit chief is being a good sport about it. But they won't cover my belly ... they ride below it. And the thought of dealing with some nasty car accident with my belly not covered except for my shirt ... yeah, no.
Thoughts?

Oh, and as for the weather report from high up here in BC's beautiful coastal range ... rain, rain, rain and more rain.
Starling, it's hard to tell how big you'll get. Can you have one of each? Sounds like the smaller one would be good for now, and maybe the one you already have for later.
Maternity wear is pretty inconsistent at times. And I honestly didn't wear any over the belly pants at all until well into my 3rd trimester last time, so I vote exchange them for the size Smalls, as long as they won't be too short or something.

----

I'm excited about a February baby! It'll be perfect timing -- she'll be old enough to enjoy socializing in spring and summer without me worrying over her tiny immune system (we're mostly homebodies in winter anyway), and she'll still get to enjoy swimming at 6 months, because it'll still be warm here (the recent rain and cooler temps are an anomaly). Plus my first child was born in April and I like them being far enough apart to celebrate birthdays totally separately.

My only worry is if it snows, since we're on a mountain and a good 45 minutes from the birth center. But my midwife lives up here too, so worst case scenario my husband can go fetch her and we can all ride down together. Or something. We usually don't get crazy snow here and the few times we have, it's been in March.

well it has been cool here in NH in ams and then like 70 Plus in afternoon. but nice and breezy at times Fall is in the air and i hope it arrives soon. No acs really sucks especially with the humidity added in. Well i went for my Nuchal Transulency test today. I am 13 wks 6 days baby is measuring right on spot due date feb 26th(my dads bday) lol. of course my bday is feb 19th. so we shall see. The sonographer wasnt the nicest. she was like right there and wouldnt even scan over the private area. she was annoyed that baby wasnt in good position for what she needed and wouldnt move for her. It probably doesnt help that she had to come in early to do my NTS becuase my appt was scheduled last minute for 730am. she only turned on the 3d for 2 seconds and gave me 1 horrible picture can barely tell what i am looking at and to top it off hubby wasnt allowed in room becuase the kids were with him. Hoping for a happier ultrasound at 18 wks. O and is anyone from NH? I am gonna need help with breastfeeding and maybe get a doula. O and any things i should know about 4th pregnancy labors?
