Confused about my Postpartum bleeding...

I'm SO frustrated.

When my babe was 2.5 weeks old I overdid it (vacuumed and cleaned two rooms in the house) and the bleeding got bright red again though the flow did not really change. (*sigh*) Ok, so I haven't vacuumed again, but I do carry my baby in a Moby (she needs this) and I was carrying her up and down stairs to change her diaper. Last week I started bringing the diaper supplies downstairs to avoid the steps all day... still bleeding. She's 6 weeks old now and I'm STILL bleeding and it's STILL bright red. I even passed a clot Saturday night. I swear I'm still feeling mild afterpains at night when she nurses.

What am I doing wrong? I can't possibly exercise less. I eat well and take my vitamins. I get that it's normal for some women to bleed longer, but it shouldn't be bright red and I shouldn't be passing clots. Right?

I think you need to go in and see your midwife or OB. A similar thing happened to me after my 2nd son, and I had a retained piece of placenta (or membranes) trying to work its way out of my cervix. The midwife removed the fragments with some clamps (they were just hanging out of my vagina) and I felt better within a day.

HTH!

I bled for several weeks with all my children. I remember with my first, I bled for 7 or 8 weeks. I went to see the doc at 6 weeks for postpartum checkup. After the checkup, I started to bleed quite a bit more. Then, around 8 weeks, it finally stopped.

I would check with your health care provider.
