I made a diap with organic sherpa fleece as the liner. Its so soft! However, it seems to be repelling, not absorbing! Suggestions???!!!!

I bought some organic sherpa and some organic terry from (IIRC) diaper stash on Ebay and I prewashed it about 4 times to get it to even start to absorb! It was very frustrating. When I used to sell diapers I bought burley knit terry and sherpa from a supplier and I would specifically request they NOT add the 'softener' at the end of the production of it. I believe that is why this stuff does this, because it has some sort of treatment added to it. I could be wrong.... Basically, you're going to need to wash it *several* times to get whatever it is that's repelling washed out.

you could try boiling it for 20 minutes before a wash as well, and remember to wash then dry then wash then dry, it helps fluff it up and maximizes washing power.
also, if you use a natural soap that contains oils it could be causing repelling as well, which in that case you would want to add a bit of dish soap to a wash with just plain water to see if that changes it.
