At least they mention about live vaxes shedding, though.

Yeah, I hear you on this...

I just read a post on a friend's Livejournal blog and in it she put out a call to all parents of infants to "be careful" with their babies and make sure they don't allow them to be around unvaccinated children...etc...

Thing is, she has no children and has done no sort of investigation except to scan headlines and listen to sound bites from Amanda Peete.

I had to be careful in my response to not be too vehement or angry...but I have a feeling that we will be very divergent on this topic and may well find ourselves grown apart before it finishes.

Friends like that...are not friends worth having.

Umm, that happened to my sister over 20+ years ago. Her DH, my BIL, was bragging to a co-worker, who had children the same age as he, that my sister and he were not vaxxing their kiddos.

My nephew and their kids never played together again.

Very true. But, again, my sister and I knew that over 20+ years ago. More like 40+ years ago...a life lesson well learned.

Yeah, nonvaxing parents probably found themselves kicked out of the practice.

Sounds like a HIPPA violation.

I'm pretty sure it's only a HIPPA violation if the dr office gives out specific information about specific families: "The Smith children, John and Jane, are not vaccinated" would be a HIPPA violation. "We don't have any non vaccinating families in our practice" I'm not sure about.

There was a discussion about this on one of the other forums I frequent. Almost everyone said there is no way they would let their vaxed kids play with unvaxed kids. I said "are you 100% up to date on your vaxes??" and "your vaxed kids pose more of a threat to my non-vaxed kids than mine do to yours." It's like just because they aren't vaxed they MUST be carrying around all of these horrible "deadly" diseases, like its in their saliva, or skin, or hair. It's just ridiculous.

Actually my close friends became converts or at least supported our decisions if their kids were beyond the vax stage. I did have an acquaintance avoid us for a while. She called the day of her dd's 18 mo shots to see which ones to avoid. I told her I couldn't make that choice for her and she should tell the ped she needed more time and wait. She stopped calling for probably close to 6-8 mos. Now she likes us again.... who knows.

Frankly though, if all it takes for someone to ditch me is this, then I am more than cool to be alone. I like my hubbie and kids just fine and all their health is more important than some wishy washy friend. We would much prefer a deserted island to the hum of extra humans anyways, but we're obviously weird!!
