Watervliet and Latham area.............

Hi. My in-laws live in Watervliet, near Latham. Not far from Haufman's Playland. We went there this past week -- I love that place!

I'm wondering what else there is to do in Watervliet especially. I"m willing to go to Latham, too.

I've only found one McD's Playplace, and it's in Troy. It's not in a good neighborhood.

I'm looking for other McD's Playplaces, libraries, children's play places, bowling alleys, arcades, places to jump around and climb, ect..... My kids are 7 and 4.

I just wanted to say hi. I live in Hoosick Falls so about a 1/2 hour away. I don't really know what the resources for older kids are down that way as I'm more focused on new moms with babies (I'm a postpartum doula). I know there is a LLL chapter in Troy they may have resources for older children. The Children's Museum in Troy is really nice, we've brought DS there and he is 6.

Are they too young for Guptill's Arena in Latham?

It's a bit farther north, but The Children's Museum at Saratoga is nice. The McD's at Exit 15 (not far from the museum) has a decent PlayPlace.

Hi Ladies!!! Thank you for those suggestions!

I looked at Guptill's Skating Rink in the link you gave me. They are too young for it, but it will be great when they are a little older. That is one rockin' skating rink.

The Children's Museum at Saratoga looks great. I'm going to try that one. They are a good age for that. I'm not sure how far Saratoga is, though, from Watervliet. I have to check it on mapquest.

I'm gonna look for a link to the childrens museum in Troy.

You know what I was thinking when I was at Hauffman's Playland this past weekend? They should not shut down in September -- that's way too early. They should go thru Halloween, and starting Oct 1st, they should do a pumpkin display thruout the park and do trick-or-treating around Halloween time. It is an adorable little amusement park. I wish we had that it my area. I live about 2.5 hours from Albany area, in Central Leatherstocking region.

There is the Children's Museam of Science and Technology in Troy, the Empire State Museam and the plaza can be neat places too for little ones (in downtown Albany, which really is not far from Watervliet!)

Cartwheels for Kids is in Latham, that's a large indoor playground. I thought that it was a little pricey at $9/child but the kids had a great time. Nice for when the weather isn't cooperating.

There are a few great playgrounds...the Crossings of Colonie (also not really far from Watervliet) is a huge park with a nice playground and paved walking trails, a pond with ducks and fish.

If you google any of these places, you can find a ton of info regarding addy's, hours, etc.

HTH.

There is the tiny tots tea room in clifton park, great for indoor days. she does tea parties and manners classes there, but also has a huge play area and yummy food. also, in the clifton park mall is the bounce house, all inflatable slides and bouncing things, with a small arcade. i think 7 is too old for the tea room play area....i think the cut off is 5 or 6.
