Critique my exemption letter?

We have been doing some selective vaxing. Oh well. Anyways, this is what we've come up with:

Quote:
To whom it may concern:

As parents, we object to childhood vaccinations for our child DS-full-name on religious grounds.

It is our deeply held personal religious belief that vaccination of our child violates the divine nature of our Creator, and His decisions regarding the life of our child. It is our spiritual belief that DS’s life is a gift that will be given and taken by our Lord, when He chooses. Intervention in our Lord’s plan by man is an unacceptable challenge of His divine power, and calls into question our faith and belief in Him.

In addition, many vaccines are manufactured using the remains of aborted human fetuses. Abortion, and the commercial use of aborted humans, is morally wrong, and is against our religious faith.

Illinois law provides exemption to immunization requirements on religious grounds in Illinois Revised Statutes, CHAPTER 105. SCHOOLS ARTICLE 27:

(8) Parents or legal guardians who object to health examinations or any part thereof, or to immunizations, on religious grounds shall not be required to submit their children or wards to the examinations or immunizations to which they so object if such parents or legal guardians present to the appropriate local school authority a signed statement of objection, detailing the grounds for the objection. (105 ILCS 5/27-8.1 (2006) Health examinations and immunizations)

The Illinois Administrative Code mimics the statutory exemption in TITLE 77:

PUBLIC HEALTH, CHAPTER I: DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH, SUBCHAPTER k: COMMUNICABLE DISEASE CONTROL AND IMMUNIZATIONS, PART 695 IMMUNIZATION CODE [excerpted portion follows]:

Section 695.30 Exceptions. The provisions of this Act shall not apply if: The parent or guardian of the child objects thereto on the grounds that the administration of immunizing agents conflicts with his or her religious tenets or practices . . . If a religious objection is made, a written and signed statement from the parent or legal guardian detailing such objections must be presented to the child care facility or local school authority. The religious objection statement shall be considered valid if . . . The objection by the parent or guardian of a child entering school (including programs under the kindergarten level) sets forth the specific religious belief which conflicts with the immunization(s). The religious objection may be personal and need not be directed by the tenets of an established religious organization.

Not familiar with Illinois specifically- but remove the part about aborted matter- you must object to the practice of vaccination, not some ingredients.

I would skip the aborted fetal stuff...that only disqualifies a few vaccines. Some states don't accept that as a religious reason.

Your best to just state the law and that you are claiming it without any reasons that they can question.

Simply:

According to state law _________ Which states ______________________ The practice of vaccination is against our child _______________'s sincere religious beliefs.
