Southern WI Autism/Aspie/ASD services

Hello!
I was raised in WI, but relocated to the Chicago area after I got married. I have a 6 yo ds on the spectrum and am less than impressed with the quality of services I can get for him here. I am seriously cosidering moving across the border if it will make his life less stressful. Anybody have any insight on this? Areas to reccomend or avoid? Good schools?Thank you for your thoughts

the ARCH center in franklin, wi, is really good. dr brown is a really nice guy and a good dr and his team is really good, too. he is a DAN! dr, i don't know if that makes any difference to you or not.

dr greg hintz is the one who gave us our diagnoses, but he is moving and i'm not sure where to yet. we really like him.

tender touch therapy is in both racine and kenosha and they have some really good therapists at both locations.

(both dsMoose and dsBear are dx'd pdd-nos, moose is also adhd)

good luck and if you want to talk, pm me!

times are changing w/ services here - while there are great services funding is tricky Madison area is still outstanding &has a lot of choice - but the intensive txs have dried up.

best of love to you & yours!

I just saw this. Madison also has a DAN! Dr at the Integrative Hyperbaric Center, Dr Van Dyke. We've seen him and like him a lot.

I will agree that the services are hard to get-- the wait list for the autism waiver is anywhere from 15-18 months (I've heard as long as two years but anecdotally have heard of the other time frame)

We also saw Dr Peter Williamson, who is a pediatric neuropsychologist. I thought he was great for behavioral stuff.

There is a lot more here that we haven't even explored yet- we just got our 3 yo DS diagnosis over the summer.

We get services through the school district- early childhood ed, OT, speech. I'm still not sure how I feel about it a month in. But as school districts go, I guess I can't complain.
