Do you shave?

Thread Starter
With cold weather approaching, I feel much less inclined to shave my legs. I rarely shave my pits anyway, and find that I'm actually a bit more comfy with some hair in the pits... and not stinky either.

Actually, I hadn't shaved my pits in months until I got preg, and was suddenly grossed out by all sorts of strange things. I'm over that now.

Anyone else not mind the au naturale look?

I don't shave, never have since I was about 14! Shaving is such a pain in the arse and the hair grows back hard and bristly!

I use an epilator... its a machine that rips your hairs out! They are great, I did my legs 3 weeks ago and the hairs are just starting to grow back now, fine, silky and soft! I can go for 3 months or so without having to do my legs as the hairs are so sparse and soft.

I don't think I do it any less or more because winter is approaching... but I usually do let my bikini line slide hehe as I maintain it with a eyebrow plucker - don't shave there or epilate there. Then after winter its time for a visit to the waxer's!

YES I didnt shave for a few days and when I get goose bumps hair on my legs feels very strange. It also feels strange to me to take a shower with water running down between my leg hairs:LOL

Dh doesnt like to cuddle with me when my legs are are prickely, dont blame him as I dont like kissing him when he hasnt shaved in a few days.

I am so laid-back about shaving (luckily, so is dh ) I live in a beachy area, and I only *sometimes shave. Like when I feel that an outfit warrants the effort, lol. And then I might only shave the part that shows....like legs for a cute denim miniskirt. Going to beach in a bikini is not necessarily a good enough reason for me to shave. Dh really doesn't care either way....and that probably has influenced my lax attitude.

I shave my legs because I like the feeling/look of smooth legs. If I could be patient enough for the hair to grow out and naturally replace itself with smoother hair, I probably wouldn't shave at all.

I do not shave my pits. I just started not shaving earlier this year and I am very self-concious of it as my family is quite conservative about these things and so is my work. I prefer not shaving my underarms, but I find it a bit restrictive in the summer when my collegues are wearing sleeveless tops.

I don't shave my legs because I don't like the stubble. My dh would prefer I did, so once or twice a year I'll have them waxed, usually summer, just to make him happy. I didn't shave when we met so I don't feel it's a requirement... However, I do shave my armpits. Just personal preference.

I've stopped shaving for the cold season. Like someone mentioned before, it does feel weird having the water run down hairy legs! And I feel like an ape cleaning my jungle pits.

I go through phases. for the last year or so I have been shaving, but I have gone long stretches (months to a year) without doing so.
For the most part, yes. But during winter I rarely shave my legs. I keep up with my pits a couple times a week. Too stinky for me if I don't. And the bikini line, ugh! What to do with that?? I've pretty much given up on wearing a suit because it's just torture to try and remove that hair. And there seems to be so much of it now since I've had kids!

I went through a phase in college where I didn't shave anything for quite a long time.

I wax, though less in winter. I shave my pits every shower.
I never shave anything. Don't use any other method of hair removal, either.

I'm only seeing legs and pits mentioned

Don't tell me know one has discovered the wonderful feeling of shaving . . . . ummm . . . . well . . . . around your girl parts?

Very nice for sex. That's all I'm sayin'!

i'm with quickening on this one.

i waxed starting around age 15 until i discovered the epilator a few years ago.

slightly off topic, but to those who use one, what brand epilator do you have? i got mine in japan and i think i'm almost due for a new one, but i don't know which of the brands available here is best. thanks!

Yes, but how do you do it so that you don't get all that nasty itchy stubble afterward?
and in response to ali, i've wax and/or epilator in more places than just legs, bikini and pits. i don't keep up with it all the time but i do enjoy (as does dh) something close to a brazilian now and then.

edited to add:

since it's not shaving i don't get stubble, it just regrows like normal hair, but the occassional ingrown hair is a bitch.

OOh! Epilators are the best, it was so difficult to find one in the USA - guess you all have low pain thresolds hehe (aussies are superior woohoo) but I finally found a great one at www.shavershop.com

Mine is the blue one, http://www.shavershop.com/ss_product...duct_id=EE1170

and it is amazingly great! The yellow one I had in Australia was nothing compared to the new one (both braun).

Ouch, you epilate pubic hair, how does that work? Doesnt it bleed?
You people with the hair-ripper-outers are giving me suggestive pain!
When I bother with my leg hair at all. I use my ancient epi-lady. I love it, but I'm going to have to replace it sooner or later....

Pits, I shave.

Pubic hair, I just trim. (the shaved-all-off look is *so* not my thing... reminds me of the way that small children look. How did *that* become a sexualized look??)

peace,
alsoSarah

quickening, thanks for the recommendation! i will definitely get that one if it's not battery powered. i couldn't tell from the site, does it have a cord and electric adapter?

as for using it on my pubic hair... and sorry if this is tmi...

alsoSarah, i'm not big on the completely bare look either. i think what i like best is called a landing strip, but since i've never seen i pictoral guide, i'm not sure! basically, i like a stripe in front, but close to bare underneath. sometimes though i find that makes me sensitive to detergents in my underwear, then i let it grow out.

as for the actual hair ripping, no, it doesn't bleed. though it did once a bit when i waxed it. i go slowly and don't do it in big strokes like i do my legs... kind of working back to front. slowly. and i probably don't go within an inch radius of my clit.

i pretty much just do whatever i feel like.. i mean sometimes i do, a lot of times i don't. sex is fun whether i shave there or not. i usually wear long skirts & pants so the legs, i really get away with! dh says he likes women "how they come naturally" but if i shave my legs, he's like "ooooh... so soft" : :

anyway, i guess i should be happy he doesn't care! let freedom reign! hehe

ps- yet another "dh is naive" story- he didn't know women plucked their eyebrows until a couple years ago (he's almost 29) just thought some actually came with pencil thin, perfectly shaped brows

mama mia! :
