Please recommend a Bergen/Essex county OB/GYN!!

I'm hoping you all can help me! I am in search of a new OB and am giving myself a headache just thinking about it.

I delivered my first son at Holy Name in Teaneck and absolutely loved the hospital, but I think I want to leave my doctor's office. So, does anyone have experience with a doctor or MW out of Holy Name that they'd recommend?

*OR*

Have you had a great experience at Hackensack? If so, who was your OB? The only thing that makes me nervous at Hackensack is that I don't think you're guaranteed a private room.

Anyone have a great experience at Valley? If so, with whom? I've read great things about Dr. Dicker and I see that the practice has added a MW so I'm really interested in any info about Valley as this seems like a good possibility for me.

I'm heavy hearted thinking about not going back to Holy Name for my next delivery, but I do think I need to change doctors at this point. Any help you can give is MUCH appreciated!! Thank you!

Hackensack has a CS rate of 49%. Even by Jersey standards, that's bad.

I know, my 2 friends whom I know that went to Hackensack both had c-sections. I am leaning towards either Valley or Holy Name at this point. I do believe in my son's delivery I would have wound up in surgery but it wasn't the hospital that saved me - it was the fact that my doctor was in another c-section at the time so I had an extra hour to labor down before he came in for me to push!

Was your c-section at Hackensack?

Nope, not even in NJ, just know quite a few people in Bergen.

I have also heard bad things about the C-section rate at valley. I delivered my kids at Englewood vaginally, one with epidural, one without, but they are not particularly NCB friendly, but they do have a pretty low c-section rate for the area.

I was seeing Dr. Dicker for the first 20 weeks of pregnancy #1 and I really liked him. I never met w/ his partner (Shakarjian) but have heard REALLY mixed things about her. They do have a MW on staff who sounds great however when you are in labor you get whoever is on call.

I birthed #1 at Pascak Valley w/ Childbirth Center midwives- now they are in Fort Lee. They are great.

Their on call dr. (who I saw a few times and wound up delivering me due to C/S) is Dr. Garber- he now works out of Holy Name ( I Think) but I am not sure if he is still doing deliveries- he may be only high risk- not sure. He was GREAT. I really liked him and his philosophy.

I am now w/ Avalon Midwives ( West Caldwell) and delivering at Morristown- hoping for VBAC. I am 29 weeks preggo and have had a fabulous 29 weeks in their care. I live in Bergen County so it is a bit of a hike, but well worth it for me.

Hope some of this helps. GOOD LUCK finding someone.
Brenda
