Pretty please!?!?!? I'm not currently pregnant, but we will be trying around the first of the year and I want to be well prepared. I know that I am also going to have to be appealing to our insurance company to cover a home birth, so if anyone has any info on that as well, I'd greatly appreciate it!!!

I'm from the other side of the state, so don't know whether there are any CPMs operating in Missouri over there. Try Kansas, though. It's more midwife-friendly.
Good luck with the insurance company part.
FTR, depending on your insurance, it might be cheaper to have a homebirth with a midwife and pay out of pocket than to pay deductibles and copays for a hospital birth. It was for me. The insurance is good to have in case of transfer.

I haven't used either of them but I have heard both Anita Woods and Cheryl Gates recommended. I used Suzanne Ryan. She is a CNM but I didn't find her to be too "medical."

I'm in KCMO and have a CPM for my upcoming (any time now) birth. PM me and I'll send you her info.

I put up a referral page on our website where I'm compiling information for more natural minded professionals, including midwives. If you know of someone to add and make it more complete that would be great. Or if you are looking for KC midwives visit our site> store locator> professional referrals page.

Cheryl Gates is my midwife and was at my baby's birth in September. I'd recomend her to anyone. She is over in Kansas but delivers in Missouri. She is awesome, has a super head about her, very respectful of wishes.
