I got an awesome deal today!

I'm making about 1/2 of a stash for my BFF. She has about a dozen prefolds and two covers, and that is all (she's due in the beginning of Dec. with her first)!!! So, when I went to Joann today for some yarn for another project, the remnant bin caught my eye. Long story short, I got enough flannel, terry, fleece, and bird's eye to make the rest of her stash for her for under $20!!! I'm still in shock myself! After I put the kiddos down tonight, I sat down and cut everything out. I can't wait to start sewing tomorrow...she's going to be SO suprised!! :

This chick has been my best friend since elementary school...I'm just glad I can help her! Here are some pics. Everything is just in the cut-out stage, except some of the wipes. She's not finding out what she's having, so I just did a mish-mash of fluff...

Wipes
Pocket fitteds
Fleece covers
Stuff for inserts/soakers

Here is the material for the slings I'm making for her and her sister...they're due 2 weeks apart! I loved this material...it's a heavier gauze with a silver stripe running thru...

And here is the sling that I made today for another friend who is expecting in late Sept. The camo came from some BDU's that I torn down and repurposed.

I like the stash you found! What an awesome thing to do for a friend. Please please post when they're finished, and also maybe link which pattern you're using?

I didn't even know that Joanne carried birdseye!

I didn't know Joann's carry BE either!!!

yeah, i too want to know the patterns you are using, specially the pocket fitted ones!

That blue gauze for slings is really neat!
And I like the way you trimmed the one w/ camo-- very cool!

Your friends are lucky to have you!

Lots of work at the hospital here lately, so I'm still sewing! I'm using Rita's Rump Pockets pattern and also her fleece cover pattern. I modify the wings on the pockets and add Aplix instead of making them long and using pins. Makes them a little less adjustable, but they're easier for daddies.

I had never seen BE at a Joann's before, either. I just moved here and there's a Joann's Superstore. I couldn't find a bolt on the racks, just the bits in the remnants bin. Go figure...

very cool, I am making up a bunch or rrp's too. I wish I could talk my friends into cloth!

and FYI, if your joann's has BE it's probably with the utility fabrics. In my store it's actually on a little shelf next to the cutting table. There's some different kinds of interfacing and stuff like that on there too. I asked for some once but they had no idea what I was talking about and then I saw it there.
