Hi

We just bought a mini-van! Hurray! But the inside is pretty yucky! I am going to clean it, but there are so many stains that I want to cover the seats.... any ideas?? My funds are limited... what kind of fabric should I use that is reasonably priced?

I should also mention that I am pretty new to sewing... but willing to try anything!

Thank you so much!!!!!

I have a mini van and I use beach towels as the seat covers. For the back seat, I have an oversized beach towel that was given to me and it fits perfectly and I just cut holes for the seat belts. For the two captain's chairs in the middle I use beach towels then I can take them off and wash them and put others on.
I did have an old t-shirt of my husband's over the front passenger seat - that way it covers the back of the seat too, but I washed it and did not put it back. But, you can put extra large t-shirts over seats too.
It is not beautiful, but is functional.

Great ideas Mama! Thank you! I love creative ideas! I really want to make it "pretty".... it is so yucky, but we got a great deal on the price! So I am pretty excited to have a car! I haven't had one in three years!

If you use towels, then you can also just tack on a bit of elastic to help hold it in place.

If you go for covers that you make, to fit properly, then some kind of microfibre would be nice. It feels nice, cleans up really well and lasts pretty well too.
