skipping well child visits to avoid pressure to vax? - Page 3

Umm yeah, that would be us, more or less too. DS' 17.5 months now, and hasn't seen the doc since he was 9 months. I'm debating whether or not to do the 18 month visit... Honestly, we might be moving though so I might be finding a new doc anyways so I'll probably do a visit then just as a meet'n greet thing, you know?

But really, I just don't see the point in taking my HEALTHY child in to a place with lots of SICK people, just so they doc can say "hi", you know??

We have never done well baby visits with any of our children and they are doing fine at 7.5, 5.5, and 2.5. The only time they go to a doctor is when sick (and my son has special needs so he sees his doctor for that). WBV are useless IMO and just for making more money for the doctor.

Time to find a better dr. We go to a family practioner. We went once when we moved here, and only go if they are sick with something I do not know how to deal with. Keep asking around...finding your tribe, the people that work at the health food store, friends at la leche league meetings, ,etc. Keep asking!

Get a GP, chiropractor, or naturopath as your regular doctor. There are fewer issues with vaccinations.
Do chiros do WBVs? A friend of ours has a chiro that they love, but she hasn't mentioned seeing her for WBVs... This particular chiro is anti-vax and has DVDs and such on the topic that you can borrow and seems to be perfect for us. I haven't met her, but I'm considering setting up an interview and visiting her (on my own, not with DS yet) when we move next month.

There is a risk of infants suffering anal perforation from the rectal thermometers that they insist upon.
Do they do this for every WBV? Can't you just say no? Or let them do it under their arm? My midwives only do armpit temperatures, and that's all we've ever done. I'd tell a doctor that that is the way we do it, and they'll either do it that way or not at all.

My pediatricians (and we've had 4) have never taken my kids temp at a WBV, much less used a rectal thermometer.

AFAIK chiropractors are not qualified to do WBVs.

IN CA, my father was a Chiropractor and he signed off on my physical and all of my siblings' physicals for school from 1960-1989. I have taken my sons to a chiropractor for sports physicals. No problemo.

The only time I ever had a problem was for an employment physical, and the place that denied the chiropractor physical was a UAV anyway.

I wet to one today. It wasn't a barrel of fun. I had to sign the "I know I am possibly putting my child and any person they come into contact with in danger because of my refusal to vaccinate" form. The nurse didn't like it when I mentioned that there should also be a spot on the form stating that vaccines can also cause harm or even death. She also lectured me on still nursing my almost 17 month old. She said I should be pumping and giving him a cup. I just smiled and nodded. I am moving next week and won't have to deal with this practice anymore.

The ped was nice and respectful though. That was nice.

I skipped WBV after my son's 4th month visit. I had a very bad interaction with a doctor. I plan on doing yearly physicals.
