Another sleepness night. Kendall does not want to settle down and relax. He'll fall asleep but as soon as I lie him down, he wakes up or does all kinds of stretching and groaning for 15 minutes. I end up picking him up and soothing him until he stops. Any other LO's doing this? I've put him the crib, the bassinet, in bed with me, nothing works. It's going on 2 am and he won't sleep comfortably. He slept most of the day but I can't get him to rest as well at night.

My face has broke out big time. I have pimples on my nose and chin that won't go away. I've tried toothpaste, acne face wash, everything. whats reallt going on?

Yver August is really lethargic today. We wonder if he might have a fever or mild cold. MIL came down with a fever and cold like symptoms the day after she went home
He also still has a goopy right eye. He's had it since birth. I'm expressing milk into it and it seems to be getting better but I'll see what the doctor has to say about it today.

Aki Pi, iI think it's your blessed pg hormones in bloom... drink lots of water! August doesn't like to lay by himself either. When we go to bed I prop myself up with some pillows so I'm laying at an incline then I have him on my chest. I usually fall asleep like this and when I awake, he's usually in the sleep zone and I can then lay him next to me. Maybe that will work for you?

Evelynn does the same thing. I'm glad we're not the only ones dealing with this... it's rough.

I woke up DH last night crying, "I can't do this!"

Birth was easy compared to this.

Klynne-we're dealing with a goopy right eye too. I've been expressing milk and the Dr and MW both told me to massage the tear duct a few times a day. (The Dr also gave me a scrip for an antibiotic cream, but I'm holding out!)

Ah, hormones...good for all kinds of things like bad skin, puffiness, and moodiness! Luckily Rowan is the only one suffering from bad skin so far, but I'm waiting. I think you just have to wait for the hormones to even out ;(

Monique-have you tried him in a swing? My DD liked constant motion, and would sleep well in a swing. Is he gassy?

Rowan is sooo sleepy, but when he's awake, he's checking things out and pretty aware. It's nice to have such a mellow baby after my DD, who NEVER wanted to nap-she needed to be upright all the time, and just wanted to check stuff out all the time too...Last night he was up every two hours, but he did a 6 hour stretch the night before!!! It gives me hope.

We're going to the chiro today-Rowan will get a little adjustment too. I'm also going to pick up some new nursing bras and some fall clothes for the kidlets.

Eleanor and I took our first tub bath together last night and she just LOVED it! She would lay back and float in the water, so relaxed. I saw her hair floating and it reminded me of her sono photos. It was so pleasant, neither one of us wanted out but my little guy wanted in! He would of been too wild for E, so we gave up the tub to him.

E had a nasty goopy eye at her 2 wk check up and we use the antibiotic cream to clear it up. Looks much better now.

We are going to visit my family for the long weekend and I am already wondering how the drive will go and thinking of how I will pack everything. We usually use sposies at my mom's house because she isn't keen on us using her washer for cloth. I suppose we will have to deal with leaks and blow outs for a few days.

Still have some plugged ducts here, but working on it. Saw lactation consultant yesterday and she thought the mastitis was going to pass, no abx. : I was thrilled. Seeing chiro as a family tomorrow, soo looking forward to that! Leo finally became a voracious eater yesterday too, so that is awesome. Luc had a pluged eye with goop off and on for 15 months and we never did anything but massage/breastmilk and it cleared on it's own...to those with little ones with goopy eyes.

yep my DD also needs to be on me ALL DAY! i am trying to enjoy it BUT it is also tiring. The way I am getting sleep at night is to sit up to nurse and then when she falls asleep and pops off I let her settle into deep sleep and then i just slide down so I am flat on my back without moving her. She usually ends up lieing across my stomach.

I can't wait for my Over active letdown to calm down so she wont pop off like 30times/nursing session so I can start sleeping while she nurses And also start side lying while nursing.

So apparently Kendall has colic. I have to keep him in a sling just to keep him settled, he has to sleep on my chest. I mean, this is exhausting. He just whines and cries, cries and whines. My mom said this is normal and that I just have to stick it out. but heck, I can't get any sleep and DP is no help. My folks are going out of town this weekend so they can't help me. I know my mom would but she has to go. *sigh* How long does colic last?

I mentioned to DP the other night that need a swing but he's so focused on moving that by the time he decides to get one, Kendall is will be too big. I do have his bouncer. Does the vibrating motion help at all? We haven't put a battery in it yet so I'm calling his father now to tell him to get one.

We went on our first solo outing today. It was ok. He fell right asleep once the car was in motion and he slept all while I was shopping. It was so nice to get out early in the morning and go walking with him. Tonight I'm giving him his first bath in his tub. : I'm sure this will be quite an experience. LOL.

I'm a little stressed about bills. My electric bill is up over $40 than normal. DP has to stop leaving all these lights and stuff on. I just paid $200 on it so that I can have a credit on it. We have got to cut down on stuff. This is getting out of hand and he doesn't even live here!:

And just a little reflection over how diffrent having #2 is for us... dh and I read "On becoming baby-wise" before having dd. I spent the first week charting her every feeding on a stupid piece of paper, stressing to remember what time the last feeding was if I had forgotten to write it down... stressing to keep her awake after each feeding as to instill in her a proper routine so that she would sleep through the nights... AH! pure craziness!! I'm feeding on demand this time (as with dd actually cause I never got a schedule down, thank God) and ds is sleeping in the night

Oh yeah, I recycled that babywise book

OMG my mom called and insisted on taking Kendall home with her for the night so I can get some rest. : I gave him a bath, packed up his stuff and sent him off to grandma's and grandpa's for the night. She's going to drop him off in the morning. I am totally about to clean my house, wash some dishes, wash my hair, order dinner from a local restaurant and just rest.

I know DP will come in looking for him but I need a break. just for one night. Its not like he gets up with him. this will be great. Just an evening at home resting. I'm so giddy!

We planted Owen's tree! We planted one for Ian when he was born. Of course both were planted with their placentas!

Pictures are posted here if you want to see.

DD does that too. She grunts all darn night long. Every now and then she'll go down for 30 minutes or so. She seems to be more comfortable when she's upright so I nurse her in a somewhat sitting position and let her sleep like that. At least we get some zzzzs then. Also, I let her sleep on my belly. I know it's not recommended but it is the only way to get some rest. She'll usually go down for good at around 6 but unfortunately DS wakes up at 7am and then I won't get no more sleep...argh.

Anyway. She still is the cutest thing on this planet and I lose a lot of sleep over just watching her sleeping (whenever she does).

Enjoy it. My MIL took DS the other night so I could get some sleep past 7am. That was bliss too.

We are doing wonderful here! Its been almost 4 weeks and we are kind of in a routine again. Its much easier w/ the third baby after you've had 2! Cooper is worn a lot and bf on demand and is doing just wonderful. He loves being worn on my back, as soon as I start wrapping him, he settles right down and goes to sleep. Of course I only wear him on my back when I need to get things done, usually he is on my front. His goopy eyes cleared up on his own w/ just a little breastmilk. He now seems to want to go down for bed about 7pm, so I nurse him in bed and he sleeps until about 11pm, when I join him in bed. Then I nurse him again and he sleeps in 4-5 hour stretches until morning. Side lying nursing has truly saved me w/ sleeping at night. I do wake up to latch him on, but then go right back to sleep. It feels almost like a whole night of sleep! When he starts latching by himself it will def. feel like a whole night of sleep!!

you guys are brave!!!! I think I will loose sleep at all if I let anyone take Roberto Carlos away from home

I would treat colic with some chiro adjustments and probiotics! I been doing just that to Roberto and he is sleeping so well lately http://www.fussybaby.ca/colictreatments.html I just put the probiotic in my nipple and he takes it

Klynne! wow I love love your photos!!!

Wow, my first born didn't spend a night without me until I gave birth to my second child! I can't imagine not having my newborn at home with me unless there was an emergency.

Kari- your photos are gorgeous!!!
