what names are you coming up with? - Page 7

nighten I love Eowyn! We're using Owyn ourselves, very similar. I had several people suggest Eowyn to us when we chose Owyn, but DH prefers the one we're going with.
Now if only we could narrow down a middle name.... We had sort of decided on Prudence. DH wants to give a musical nod with the middle name, but we can't think of a female artist we love that has a name we love, so we thought we'd go with a song and "Dear Prudence" is such an upbeat, happy feeling song. But it just doesn't seem to fit.
I liked Penelope a lot and DH said it was okay, but people in my family have already given this one the nickname of Winny and were quick to point out "Winny Penny". I'm saving Penelope as a possible first name later on though...
DH is stuck on Charlotte, which I think is just okay. (Actually, I'd really prefer to save that one for a first name, I just love the NN Lottie, loved that since I was a kid). He made the final call on the first name, so I'm being stubborn about the middle name. I keep trying to convince him to use Cecelia, my confirmation name and the patron saint of music so there's the musical nod. He's not loving it though... *sigh* Something will come to us just as her first name did.

We are going with LilyAnna June. It is after both of mine and dh's grandmas.

What are your thoughts on Imogen? I love it, but am currently second guessing everything
post #124 of 164
How are you going to pronouce Imogen? It looks like it needs to be Imogene to me? But, maybe I'm just not familiar with the name.

It is pretty. What middle name will you use? It could sound like "I'm a gene __________". Like "gene" was the adjective of whatever the middle name is.

It would be all short vowel sounds -- im - uh - jin

I know quite a few Imogens...there were three in my ddc with Yarrow as well. I believe it is very popular in the UK...but who cares! If you love it, it really is a great name!

We've picked out a name that I saw on another DDC. I actually mentioned it to dh just as conversation, and he really liked it and now I really like it. It's the first name we both feel at peace with for this babe.

I love it! It's a classier version of my grandma's name-- EmmaJean.

It might be popular in the UK because of the singer Imogen Heap--but her music is pretty good and I wouldn't worry about that one bit anyway.

DH told me the other day that he doesn't want to seriously think about names until we know the sex. But um, we decided not to find out the sex. I guess I'll have to have a talk with him about that.

for the moment her name is Kate, but it could change. I am thinking Kate Willamina ___________ Smith. I don't know. Told DH maybe we should use Juniper and call her June which i really liek too. I am not locking anything in until she is in my arms, although for now we are all calling her Kate.

*BUMP*

Where is everyone standing on names now?

We've decided on Ariel for the first name, but are stumped for the middle name. It took us forever and a half to decide on that one. We kept going through spurts of making lists and reading the baby book, then getting too inundated and the names would all start to sound alike. It's still weird for me to think of her as Ariel, as opposed to baby girl, kid, or little human in there. It was also hard because we kept liking these names that we're on the up and coming lists, like Ella, beautiful names, but I don't want her to have five other girls in her class with the same name.

We're considering Nadia as the middle name, Ariel Nadia works really well with our last name. Who knows? We've stopped talking about it, because it's not as big a deal to us as the first name and we've got other stuff going on making our brains fuzzy.:

our daughter will be named Scarlett Elizabeth

Nevermind.

We have two names we really like. I think we will pick once she is born.

Fiona Aileen
Roan Aileen...we are considering the spelling as Rowan too but I like the first better.

If we are suprised by a boy then we have more work to do! We will use James as a middle name after my great uncle and DH's dad but a first name hasn't come to us. We've put less energy into boys names since our u/s but I do wonder if they were wrong what we would do.

We're supposed to be keeping it a secret, but I think we're settled on Aubrey. Yes, spelled like a boy. I've been calling her Baby Brie and I think it will fit.

I also really like Avery (Huz vetoed b/c of the label company) and Nilah (Huz vetoed b/c that's the name of his grandma's best friend). And Elise, but it won't go with our last name.

As far as middle names go, we're still up in the air--he likes Regan (or Reagan), I like Ruth (for my grandma). I think I'm going to leave that one up to him...I just want him to decide soon!

Why not Ariel Ella? I think that's lovely! I'm not a big fan of Ariel Nadia. But then, who cares what I think?

I don't think that's a boy spelling. I mean, it may have been at one time, but that's back when Ashley and Shirley were male names, too. Nowadays I've only ever heard "Aubrey" to be a girl name.

Our little one is still Eliza Kate <lastname>. Unless baby comes out with a surprise penis. Then we'll probably go with Oliver-something. But we're pretty sure from the ultrasound that it's a girl.
