Hi Azreial,

Nearly all of the HB midwives practicing in MA are listed on the MMA website and all (AFAIK) will attend VBAC's. There are several midwives who will travel to the Cape Ann area for your birth. Probably more relevant is how far you want to travel for prenatals.

I had my HBAC with midwife Valerie Jacques in NH (just over the MA border up 95) and her practice would be an option for you too if you've only had one c/s (NH licensing prevents them from attending VBAmC). She does prenatal appts. at her birth center, Coastal Family Birth Retreat, but does attend HB in MA (and NH of course!)

Ann Kilroy attends on the north shore, she's in Stoneham. She attended all my births.

Deborah Allen came up to Beverly to attend my birth.

I am also looking for a MW to attend my HBAC in late March/early April. I e-mailed Ann with no reply. I tried calling her and got a very curt "call back later" from a man who answered the phone (her husband?). I gave up. I need a midwife who is more responsive. Is this atypical for her? Stoneham is more convenient than the other MWs I'm looking at so I wanted to consider her, but again, I need someone I can reach. Thanks.

I know she was without internet for a while, but they still list her email on MassMidwives.
As for her phone...she has 5 kids (3 teenagers) and a husband and friends of her kids in and out of her home all day. I've always gotten a return call if you leave your #. Once you are a client she'll give you her cell # which is much easier. As for appointments and such, she has always been very prompt, and super fast at getting to births.

Thanks for the info. I'm interviewing a different MW on Sat. If I don't love her I'll try Ann again.
