I have to admit, I loved learning by movies and such in school. I ADORED School House Rock. "I'm just a bill, here on capitol hill..." lol!

Anyway, about the fundraisers, the ones that annoy me most (and my kids aren't in school yet, but my niece and nephews are) are the magazine subscriptions. Ugh.

We did some nice fundraisers when I was in elementry. I remember one time there was this enviromentally friendly save the animals company we sold t-shirts and other things for. It was really cool. And then my favorite was when our school did a "Jump Rope For Heart" fundraiser. All the money was given to the American Heart Association.

And I'm not sure if Market Day is considered a fundraiser or not, but I loved those.

Other ones, not so much. I think we'll participate based on interest when my kids are in school. If the items interest them and me, we'll sell. If not, we won't.

This really bothered me last year when they had one particular fundraiser at my 6 yr old's school. It was a fundraiser where all the funds raised went to the school. Those who raised money had to pay by a certain date. So the kids that didn't raise money at all or the kids that never paid by the due date were left behind in school while the whole grade went to Chuck E Cheese to celebrate the fundraiser. Soooo unfair. A 6 yr old isn't able to bring in money for the school, it's up to their parents. So they were punished basically for nothing. I can't stand that type of fundraising where a few ids feel left out and punished for nothing.

I have no problem with supporting the school. They are underfunded. I write a honking big check to the PTA at back to school night, and I'm done for the year. The school gets 100% of the money and the fundraiser companies get squat. It's all good.
