Did you get the RSV monthly shots and why?

My DS had HepB shot at birth but I am delaying vax. He was born 5 weeks early so I didn't get the vaccines. He is now 7(6) months old. I thought of getting Hib cuz I'm afraid of meningitis. I am still researching pertussis but there's no way to find a single pertussis shot. I won't get pertussis (DTaP) for my son. The Hib and RSV are ones I'm still not settled with. Should I get RSV because Hi has more stereotypes and Hib vaccine has eradicated the b but the a increased 8-fold. Thanks.

Was he a preemie, or does he have any major health issues?

He may not qualify for Synagis. I think he would have to be younger than 35 weeks. BUT if he does, it is something I would seriously consider. My (full term) son had RSV at 6 weeks old. I cannot imagine what he would have been like if he had preemie lungs. It was horrible to watch him struggle for breath every day, all 24 hours of them for 2 weeks straight.

My twins were 10 weeks early and we passed on the RSV shots (even though they qualified). They are now 2.5 years old and never had RSV or really been sick at all other then a few runny noses while teething.

Ds has had rsv-the vaccine wasn't avail. when he was born. If i could have prevented the asthma as well as the hospitilizations that followed rsv I would have. It's not a pretty picture to watch your little child struggle for breath-I can't imagine passing on a chance to prevent that. Truly-there are certain things that I just don't think babies should have to go through if you can help it.

Don't know if your LO is preemie enough to be at significant rsv risk?

Yes, he's 35 weeks 1 day. No major except when he was 37 weeks old - had heart murmur.

RSV attack the lungs but he has no issues with his lungs. He had heart murmur and was hospitalized at 37 weeks.

I hope he won't need it - he has no lung issues since he was born.

Had there been any adverse reactions on the babies from the Synagis shot?
