homebirth/moving question

so we're probably going to move in late december and i'm due with our second in march. we're in the boston area now and will probably move back to western mass when my husband finishes his grad program this semester. i know that area midwives charge a flat rate for service so i've been seeing cnm's (covered by insurance) that deliver at newton wellesley but i really haven't loved my experience there thus far...

any ideas on what to do? thanks in advance!

I would probably choose a HB midwife in Central MA who is willing to travel to Western MA for your birth in March and make the drive for your prenatals (not the most convenient thing, but at least you'll have the opportunity to establish a relationship with whoever you choose, as well as get on their calendar, as many HB midwives do book up).

Have you asked around to see if you can find a HB midwife in the Boston area who will charge you only for prenatals given that you are going to transfer out of care before the birth? Maybe someone who has an established relationship with midwives in the western part of the state?

If you do continue seeing CNM's at Newton-Wellesley or elsewhere, once you make the move to western MA, your HB midwife will likely pro-rate her fee for the remainer of your pregnancy, but you should probably be interviewing them now & get on the calendar of whoever you select.
