The positive impact of breast milk on the mental and physical development of children is unparalleled. Want a healthy baby? Put the Baby Einstein videos and hand sanitizer away and breastfeed. All the mammals are doing it. And, our children's health depends on it.

What an awesome article! Good for her!!

It really made me think, how slowly ALL of our bfing efforts are moving,in the public eye.

Professionally and politically, it's all about $$$. There is no profit to gain with healthy bf DC. Nooo. But MUCH $$ to gain with formula fed babes-for starters.More doc visits, pharma intervention, insurance cos to gain,etc...

Anyway, her statements provided food for thought. (Pun intended!)

Thanks for sharing the article!

However, I dont necessarily think that making breasts un-sexy is the answer.

Oh, wow...I'm at that mall all the time and often nurse my dd there (usually in my ergo walking around) and never had a negative comment. In fact, I get lots of smiles and people are constantly stopping us to coo at my dd. It's my favorite mall around here.

Now I'm going to have to go there for the express purpose of NIP to give the shoppers more exposure to breastfeeding so it becomes more "normal" (oh, and to get a bubble tea at my favorite vendor, too, of course! )

Plus our county government is very breastfeeding-friendly as far as laws protecting our right to NIP, so we have the support we need if anyone gives us grief for NIP.
