Where should we vacation this November?

Dh has Thanskgiving week off. and we'd like to get away for 3-5 days.

We live in Monterey and I'd like to take a vacation within driving distance. Somewhere relaxing and do a lot of activities outdoors. With the wild toddler, mountain climbing, backpacking etc are out. I thought yosemite sounded nice until I read about tire chains and snow closures. Don't want to risk that.

I'm thinking maybe San Diego zoo and something else around there? DS would love that. Any other ideas?
We're military too so if you know about discounts that'd be great!

well, if you have discounts I can see your wanting to come south. but I'd stop at Santa Barbara!

We've only been in CA for a short while, so I'm not familiar with the different cities. What's in Santa Barbara?

We often drive from Pacific Grove to Santa Barbara. It's about 4 hours. There is a nice zoo in SB that's manageable with young kids. Also our favorite hotel is the Harborview Inn. It has a great kiddie pool, approx 12-18" deep that is warm bath temp.
