need homeschooling resources for a friend in Worcester

I have a close friend who just moved from Charlton to Worcester and the neighborhood school for her dd isn't going to work for them (Union Hill Sch) My friend talked to someone at the Worc Public School Admin and was told that she has to wait until the final numbers are totaled before she can try to get her dd into another close by school. Can anyone point her/me in the right direction of how to start? It might only be for a short while as her dd really does want to go to school (as does my friend want her to be in a school) but the the assigned school is not an option. TIA

I am not sure about your question because it doesn't sound like she is planning on homeschooling....

I've found this group to be very helpful:

It helped me the most by pointing me in the direction of Milford Montessori Center, for homeschooling families doing Montessori. They offer some classes, which might be good for a kid who really wants to go to school. My ds is taking a class there: http://www.themmec.org/
