getting involved in twin cities

Hey ladies... I'm looking for info on some organization or group to get involved with in the twin cities. I would love to meet like minded mothers to befriend- as we moved here about a year ago and I don't really have any friends

I checked into LLL and the group by my house meets Tuesdays at 10am and I work from 6-11am Mon-Thursdays and get home around 1130 on those days... it seems like all the groups meet in the mornings, none in the late afternoons (I'm guessing because of nap schedules, my DD doesn't take long naps so we're always out and about in the afternoons).

I'm looking for any advice, we live on the N side of Mpls.

You've come to the right place! I was in your shoes about two years ago, and now I definitely feel like I have found my tribe here in the Minneapolis area... and you can too!

The Parenting Oasis is a great place to go and meet other like-minded parents. Click on the website for the location and hours: www.parentingoasis.com.

Also, there is a very active Attachment Parenting group in the area: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TwinCitiesAPI/

The group is constantly meeting for playgroups (that run well into the afternoon hours), monthly support meetings, mom's nights out, etc. I definitely suggest you start going to some of these events and you will have friends in no time.

Parenting Oasis Rocks! I have only been there a few times, but I know the mama who started it and she is so awesome!

Hey mama!
There's the API group that meets weekly for playgroups/outings at various locations throughout the twin cities. Check the API Yahoo group!

Holistic Moms Network has 2 local chapters, one meets in S Minneapolis and one in Maple Grove area. www.hmn.org

Blooma in Edina has postnatal classes and mom/baby classes as well as an AWESOME workshop called Swami Mommies that's starting soon for Fall! I highly reccommend this class! www.blooma.com

ECFE classes are good for meeting area parents with children of the same ages...look up your local school district and there should be a link to the ECFE programming in your district.
