My new employer rocks!

I got hired last week for a position driving a lift bus for our local transit system. I mentioned to the lady who interviewed me that I would need to pump at work. She asked what would be needed to accomodate me and said that they would be supportive. There is a private shower area with a chair and some lockers that I can stow my pump in. It's very private since not many women use the shower there. I will also be able to pump on my bus during my lunches on my route. I'm in training right now but things have been going pretty well.

Today the same lady who hired me pulled me aside to ask me how things were going and if they were doing all they could to accomdate me. She said that they had drivers who had babies all the time and I was the first one who requested to pump while working so they wanted to make sure they could do all they could to support me. She also spoke to my direct supervisor so he would know that he needed to make sure I had time to pump.

I really appriciated that she took the time out to see how I was doing.

How wonderful! Please stop by again once your training is complete and let us know how things are going. It sounds like this company deserves some praise!

That's just how the company I work for have been. I'm the first person to pump here too. (which is so sad, considering how easy they've made it for me)

I wish everyone could have an employer that is so supportive of the effort it takes to pump and work. That is awsome.

Been with the company three months now. It seems like nearly everyone knows that its a breastpump that I'm lugging around. Even the guys. Everybody acts like its the normal thing to do. One of the dispatchers told me she nursed her daughter until she was three year old. Its a very positive work environment.

That's so great! I'd write a letter to her superiors! This could set a standard for future moms who BF in the company!

That's wonderful!

It makes SUCH a huge difference to have a supportive employer. I EPed with my older DS, and my managing editor was spectacular in helping me find a suitable place to pump. (Though I'm still jealous of DH's work, which has special chairs with rocking chairs and magazines ...)

that sounds so awesome!

the bookstore i just started working at has a "breastfeeding friendly" sticker on the window. i was so excited to see it.

yay for good employers! :
