Oh the teeth...

DS is 6.5 mo and I've been so proud to have made it thus far EBF him. He now has 8 teeth (four on top four on bottom) its getting so hard to nurse without pain. He doesn't bite me that much, but as he's nursing his teeth leave deep indentations. I'm also worried that he's not getting as much because he might be cutting off the flow with his teeth. He's also begun nursing 3X more at night and only 3-4 times during the day.

I've been through quite a bit to nurse him this long and I don't want something little like teeth to tempt me to throw in the towel. Any help would be appreciated. I tried checking out other threads on babies his age, but with 8 teeth he's not quite in the norm for his age.

You shouldn't even feel his teeth if he's latched on right. Maybe you should check out Dr. Newman's site for correct latch videos. Let me go dig up some links.
Occasionally, if DD gets distracted or is teething she'll bite my nipple but other than that I never feel her teeth. But she only has 2.
On a side note, that's crazy that your 6.5 mo has 8 teeth!

Edit: I didn't go through and find the specific videos but here ya go- http://www.drjacknewman.com/video-clips.asp

Haha I hit 1000 posts

Yeah its scary that he has 8 teeth. My first only breastfed for a short time, but he didn't get teeth until 11mo and didn't have but 4 or five until he was a year and a half old. Needless to say it was a shock.

I'll check out the videos

I haven't watched these videos in a long time but maybe the one on nibbling will help out?
