Confessions of a very pregnant woman - Page 3

I update my weight on my pregnancy blog at the middle of the week instead of the beginning of the week, because I'm always a few pounds heavier after the weekends, but lighter at mid-week...

I was late for my prenatal yesterday because I forgot how long it took to get there. With my last pregnancy we lived in a different town that was about 10 minutes closer to my midwife. So all morning I was planning my drive based on the drive from our old town. THEN when I was leaving I almost backed my car into my dh's car because I turned the steering wheel the opposite direction of where I should have. My brain cells have all shut off!

I still pick up my 5 yr old son despite being told not to. He's somewhere in the 40 pound range, but I've already hurt my back once moving furniture. The worst part is my 8 yr old dd tells on me! LOL!! But, in my defense, it's awfully hard not to pick this child up - he's always been my cuddlebug and somehow just kind of melts into my arms.

I don't take prenatals, only whole food stuff like spirulina and beet juice, etc.

I ate a giant brie cheese sandwich yesterday.

I don't microwave my deli meat because I am familiar and comfortable with the source.

Once a week, I enjoy one beer or small glass of wine with my husband.

I never really regulate the temperature of the water for my baths. I just figured if my skin starts getting red, I'll get out.

I have only gotten halfway through both Ina May's Guide to Childbirth and Spiritual Midwifery and feel like that's enough for my home birth. I don't really intend to finish them. (For those of you have read them, can you give me your recommendations on most important chapters?)

This isn't really a confession, but I love it when people ask me where I am planning on birthing. I LOVE saying, "I plan to birth at home." I love their varied reactions. And the ones that look alarmed always get an earful of information and statistics. I'm quite the soapbox advocate.

That's all I can think of right now.

Oh, prenatal vitamins. I remember to take mine about... every 3rd day or so. And I do *not* eat healthily or balanced enough to justify not taking them. Ooops.

I'm with ya, I've eaten cold cut subs (and hidden the evidence) I don't take vitamins, I've had bleu cheese, and I take baths as I please. That being said, The end of Ina May's Guide to Childbirth takes on quite a different tone then alot of the beginning, it really struck me as I was reading it because it almost seems like a different book. Its an easy read anyways, I would go ahead and finish it up when you have time. I think its worth it. (and just for some more confessions I havent even started spiritual midwifery yet and haven't finished the vaccine book or the art of breastfeeding)

I am seriously dreading pumping full time. It is such a pain in the butt. I just wish that this babe could breastfeed when he comes out!!!

Maryann- I was an EP'er for my first and can TOTALLY relate. Pumping sucks rocks. My rec to you is to get one of the hospital pumps your insurance should pay for and set up a schedule. I pumped every 2-3 hours the first few weeks then every 3-4 hours for the first 6 months. I was able to only pump once a night starting around 4 months. You CAN do it

There used to be an Exclusive Pumper thread in the FYT forum. I was able to pump for 15 months and my daughter never received formula if that gives you some encouragement.

Well, I am hoping that this little one will transition to bf'ing like his brother (I had to pump for a month with DS1 too since he was premature) so I don't have to pump for THAT long. I am aiming at fully transitioning by 3 months, but we shall see. No matter what though, I won't do formula. I plan on taking Goat's Rue to make sure I have lots and lots of excess milk... and it should help that DS1 still nurses.

I still don't have a pediatrician for this baby and have no idea where to begin looking.

i have been driving around w/ teh AC on.....b/c i cant breathe basically!

^I agree....start with FYT. Also, ask your MW's if they know any doc's worth talking to. We found ours through a rec from our CNM as well as our OB and Bradley instructor (they all recommended the same dr!). People well-connected to the natural lifestyle should have some good ideas of who you could take your LO to for care.

Spontaneous ROM Fantasies

There have been a few. My crochet hook has never looked more appealing.

Yeah, yeah. Of course I'd never give myself an amniotomy. But it doesn't mean I can't fantasize right?
