Wondering what natural toothpaste everyone is using out there, and where your getting it?

Tom's makes an SLS free toothpaste. I get it at Whole Foods.

yeah, Tom's... but its just okay.

Tom's Clean and Gentle Care. I get the flouride-free one with Xylitol Its okay. I fight the urge to use half the tube. I need a strong mouth wash after (I like Spry) because Tom's is a little too benign. I want to know I have a squeaky clean mouth and feel the burn!

Trader Joe's has a few under their store brand---here are the ingredients for the one we have now:

calcium carbonate
water
glycerin
xylitol
sodium cocoyl glutamate (skin deep page about this one)
foeniculum vulgare (fennel) oil
commiphora myrrha (myrrh) resin
hydrated silica (skin deep page about this one)
chondrus crispus (carrageenan)
propolis wax
mentha piperita (peppermint) oil

I don't know which is worse----SLS or hydrated silica.

Anyone know?

What about tooth soap? I keep reading about it and want to try it. I'm not sure which brand though, if it matters.

I've tried that, but it's just so salty it makes me gag/puke. I haven't found an option I'm happy with.

My favorite is by Spry - no flouride, no SLS and it has xylitol which is shown to prevent cavities.

I just recently found a "recipe" using baking powder and some peppermint essential oil. Just add a few drops to some baking soda and mix so that it's a crumbly powder and store in an airtight container. I love this stuff!

I was at Henry's Marketplace (regional health food store) this afternoon and they must have 10 brands of toothpaste (plus all the varieties for each brand)! Several had no SLS and more than half had no fluoride. There were too many for me to memorize! LOL

I ordered Neti pots from India last year and they came with Herbodent toothpaste, which I love. I don't recall what it has and doesn't have, but I recall being happy with the ingredients before tossing the box.

Has anyone tried the Tooth and Gum? They have paste, mouthwash... That's the company my holistic dentist recommends.
