drink for lunch---sippy, thermos?? what do you use?

My dd likes a COLD beverage for lunch at school. She is fine w/ water. I bought a bpa free foogoo bottle, that is metal and washable. She said it made her water taste funny, and I tried it and it really does.

What else is there out there that is bpa-free and keeps drinks cold?????

We found BPA-free plastic Contigo kid cups (autoseal kids) in a 4-pack at Costco. They really don't spill. They don't claim to keep drinks cold, but seem to have at least a little air insulation layer. Water with ice makes it to lunch, at least.

(I think the metal makes things taste a little funny, too.)

Dd uses a Kleen Kanteen with ice cubes. She tells me it stays cold all day.
I don't find that they have a funny metallic taste to them. I know some others do.

Siggs with ice. No problem at all with taste, and one of my kids is pretty tuned into funky tastes

Here's a small tip - fill the bottom inch with water the night before and put it in the freezer. In the morning fill the rest of the way and put the lid on.
It stays cold all day.

He has a Sigg with ice cubes for snack or whenever he is thirsty. And a drink box for lunch (refrigerate or freeze to keep cool).
Could it be the ice cubes making her water taste funny?

We have the Klean Kanteen 27 oz. bottles.

We love our Klean Kanteens - we also bought the funky sleeves, so they can be identified - it also eliminates the sweatiness.

I use a Sigg bottle with the Sigg neoprene sleeve.

We use Thermos brand ones with water in them and ds never complains. It stays cold and not taste.

No, I even tried it myself and it tasted like metal. Even worse than when water sits in a plastic sippy cup for a few days.

I second the suggestion to put an inch or two of water in the bottom and freeze overnight. Pour fresh water over the top and send to school, it will stay cold all day.

I'm on the lookout for a BPA-free plastic, insulated water bottle. My son has SID and wont drink out of metal. Ugh. I'll let you know what I find, if anything. Right now we are using regular old plastic.

We bought the coloured ones so we know whose is whose. DS has blue, DD1 has pink and DD2 has a pink sippy. I got an orange one.

DD uses a Thermos like this. It's got a pop-up straw and keeps her water cold for several hours, even on hot days.

My ds uses a Sigg bottle. Just wondering if you can freeze a little bit of water in those or not. I've just been putting cold water in and wrapping an ice pack around it to keep it cold.

We just use the Sigg neoprene sleeves and it keeps it cold.

We do the Sigg bottle-ice cube combo. Works fine for us but DD isn't too particular about how cold her water is. As long as it isn't actually warm, she's fine with it.

Yeah to the thermos, we use the same I got one last year and another one this year (the label even said free from BPA whatever that means). I don't remember seeing that in last years brand.

Anyway newer one is a better design as you can remove the straw part completely and wash it separately, whereas the old one you could only remove the straw itself from the bottom part.
It cost about $14.99 at Target.

I tell you this thing keeps beverage cold for upto to 12 hours or more. We travelled with it in disney world and I put ice cubes in the morning and by evening the icecubes where still intact. Delicious on a hot summer day.

I use my DS one which is spiderman when i go to the gym as I haven't found a better alternative. I wish they made one for adults. My DD has the newer one, Hannah Montana. They all have licensed characters.

i found this link about comparison between foogo and thermos funtainer, it is over a year old, and the thermos i bought this year looks exactly like the foogo, you can see the difference I was talking about concerning the straw.
I guess thermos upgraded their product.

I also have the thermos food jar and it can keep grapes cold for hours and hours.

There is no funny taste on both the ones I have.

We have the Thermos brand too. They are fabulous. No leaks, cleans up easily, you can get a brush into it easily, unlike the Sigg bottles. Bought one to try with 6yo dd and the 2yo kept stealing it so I had to get one for him too. They also came with an extra straw piece and instructions on where/how to get more replacement straws if needed, so it's not designed to be obsolete like so many things today.
