Behavior workbooks

Hi mamas,

I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck doing anxiety workbooks/cognitive behavior therapy? I picked up one today and I'm just curious if it would be helpful or not.

I also picked up Brooke Shields book about ppd. I wanted to get some other books but they didn't even have one: You would think B&N would have at least a couple....

When you go to CBT they nearly always give you a workbook, so I would say yes use it. There are a few different ones I have used, and they are helpful. Try any by David Burns, or some on Mindfulness. There is also the anxiety and agoraphobia workbook. Good Luck

Yep, I have a CBT workbook for anxiety. It helped me stay sane and deal with major anxiety since my 20's. If you can get your hands on something, I'd recommend it.

anxiety workbook? I have never heard of this. where do I get one? and what is CTB?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy = CBT.

B & N and Border's usually sell psychotherapy workbooks in their psych/self-help sections. I get some value out of them, but some of CBT is too rigid for me.

I understand the OP's plight in finding PPD books. I finally had to go online and order Beyond the Blues and Conquering PPD.

I have been reading and it's already helping me. I bought one in the psych section called the Anxiety and Phobia workbook. I don't really have any phobias but I've had tons of fear about everything lately and now I know that's part of the anxiety, etc. I just bought the biggest one

I didn't get a workbook, but I did read Brooke Sheilds book. I loved it and was glad to hear a story similar (at least in the PPD part, not the IVF or anything like that part) to my own.
