Halloween costume ideas without head pieces?

My five year old son hates hats, and will not wear any costume with it for longer than a minute. Any ideas for the costumes without head piece?

A skeleton with a painted face, a clown with a silly painted face. . .
You could choose almost any animal, and paint his face and add ears either with a little creative hair fixing or by painting them on at the top of his forehead or just not worrying about ears.

maybe an elephant - one arm could be the elephant's trunk, the other the tail (or hidden completely).

would he let you color his hair green? if so, cut a head hole in a table cloth, color his hair green and he can be a Chia head.

he could be a police officer, firefighter, doctor, nurse, mail carrier, etc. without a headpiece.

I would try talking to him see if there is anything he wants to be...maybe look at pics in magazines or pattern books or whatever. Maybe he can just dress up and imitate a carear?

My daughter is only 2 but she wanted to be a shark (a green one ) so I'm making her a fleece suit...Pants and a pullover shirt with a hood...hood may stay down or up ( I sure hope it isn't hot...seriously north of chicago in october should be cool!) then sewing a fin on the top. Then it will double as a fun outfit for the winter!

What about a cow? Unlike a lot of animals, you can tell it is a cow because of the black and white spots and the udder. I guess a zebra would work too- black and white stripes are pretty obvious.

Thank you all for wonderful ideas. I will talk to him and see. I love sun idea. I could sew on rays on the sleves, so when he opens his arms, they would show up.
