That's great news! Congrats!!!!

I just called my doula to run a few things by her and realized we have an appointment TONIGHT at my house! Holy moly! It's clean for the most part so that's the good news. I just can't believe I almost forgot and missed it. Eek!

At least you have a doula...that is one area I have been dragging my feet.

Great news Carrie! What a weight off your shoulders with everything else you've been having to deal with! I can only hope for the same result with mine!

That sounds exciting Changed! A home visit sure makes things seem so much closer. I wish my doula were available right now. She's 38wks and I know I won't be hearing from her until her LO comes (she's my BFF and this is what she does when she's pg, she disappears off the face of the Earth).

This is getting even weirder. I looked up the email conversation between she and I. Says Tuesday 9/7. That's a sunday.
Well I bought most things that i *need* for hospital bag (pads, real undies aka not thong , teeny bottles for shampoo and conditioner, etc etc)

Today wasn't wonderful but not too bad either I guess. The spotting stopped so that is good. Matinence ppl came over today. They replaced 4 of the wooden tiles in the hall (the management said that they were going to replace the whole floor because it is crap... when I told matinence guy that he laughed and said no thats not necessary... now I have a two different colored floor!!!) then didn't fix the broken sliding glass door and we have to wait for a specialist to come out to fix the water soaked ceiling in our bedroom. Fun stuff huh.

Oh well, I am trying not to let it get to me.

DH is leaving for a week Friday and I am sad about that.

Thanks guys, I'm really stoked about the negative test, and am going to keep following my supplement regimen so that if/when we retest it's still negative!

Maryann - Wow, what a fun day for you! I'm glad the spotting stopped, hope everything is fine.

Changed - how strange, indeed.

AAM - I'm annoyed b/c when I told my mw my weight at my appt today, DH's mouth dropped a little and he scoffed, and I think I now weigh more than he does. Poo.

Also, ok, I just have to tattle a little. I'm not sure if this is a big deal or not, but I chose to just mind my own business. I was in the bathroom at my appt getting ready to do my urine strip test thing, and another pg woman comes in. She goes into the other stall, does her thing, and I weigh myself as she does her test strip. She says she's going to leave it on the counter and did I mind? I said, no of course not. Of course, I peeked at it, and totally saw that the leukocyte square and the protein square were way positive. I was like, oh that's so sad. I hope she's okay.

Anyway, mine was perfect, as usual, so I excused myself and went into the office. I was talking with DH and the woman comes in...and tells the mw that the urine strip was normal! She totally lied! I was baffled - but how could I step in and say, wait, no it wasn't? It's none of my business!

And then I felt really bad b/c she's pg with twins and they're breech and transverse, and she was really stressing about having to be sectioned.

What a strange visit that was.

Of course you weigh more, you are carrying a whole second human being inside your body and all of the means to support the life of that human being...

Mommysaurus - Happy (Belated) Birthday wishes to you!

Congrats on the negative, Carrie! That's great news. I probably would have done the same (and felt the same) about the lady who fibbed about her urine strip, btw.

Changed - I hope you got your doula appointment straightened out.

Maryann - That's so annoying about your floor! It sucks they're not keeping their promises to you. Sorry to hear your DH has to go away, mine left today for the rest of the week and I already miss him so much. I hope the days pass quickly when he's gone.

Let me just say that DH & I LOVE my new OB. We had our first appt with her today and she was very nice, friendly, approachable, great personality overall AND she liked my birth plan. My doula had told me great things about her, and she really lived up to everything I had heard. She is a strong advocate for natural child birth, and she delivers 90% of her patients' babies. Her partner has a similar mindset, so everything is looking good!

A nurse at the practice was getting my history and asked my occupation, which was kind of weird because I don't have one anymore!!! :

I have officially started my freezer stash of meals for after the birth. Tonight I made creamy chicken & vegetable soup. I'll have 3 meals worth of it to freeze along with biscuits. Each night I cook this week I'll be making double portions....the rest of the meals on the menu are

spinach lasagna, enchiladas, chili, and quiche. Not sure what I'll do next week. Maybe someone should try to dig up that old postpartum meal thread.

I'll be 36w on Thursday and I still haven't ordered my birth kit. Hopefully I can get to it tomorrow.

Carrie, the mom who lied must be used to the strip being abnormal, or taking a calculated risk. I was so surprised at my glucose turning green two appointments ago that I couldn't lie out of shock. It turned out that I'd devoured 1/2 a pineapple that day, 2 hours before the appointment, so that could've been it.

janasmama-- yeah for freezer meals, and congratulations on 36 weeks.

AAM- I decided that I have to cook a new meal every night and just freeze or eat leftovers for lunch in order to get my freezer meal stash up. So, I cooked a crockpot of this really good vegetarian southwest pot pie last night-- told DH about it 3 times before I left to take Dd to soccer. I get home and he hasn't touched it, but instead ate the salad he should have had for lunch yesterday, but since he was at the hardware store, he got a wrap at Togo's instead. I'd been out all day and was thankful that b/c he'd gone out to lunch so I didn't have to scramble this morning and prepare his salad toppings for today. But no, he had to go and be "helpful" in his words, and eat the salad. Since my main role in staying at home is keeping house and keeping us fed, my ego is totally tied to that, as are my emotions, so I flew off the handle at him! He couldn't believe it. So now, I'm off to scramble to make his salad toppings.

Cat, that's so great that you feel so good about your new OB! I know the feeling! NCB OB's are so hard to find and when you actually find one that supports your birth plan, it's a beautiful thing!

AAM: I've decided I want to do the GBS swab at my appt tomorrow (34wks) so we have plenty of time to treat naturally and restest if it's +, instead of waiting until 36 or 37wks. Do you think I need to call and let the nurse know I want to do that or can I just tell the MW when I'm there? Didn't know if this is something they need to plan for.
Carrie- Please don't stress about your gain. We've seen pictures- you look fabulous! I am not sure what I would have done about the llady who lied. I might have mentioned it to the MW when she left but I don't know... that's not really your business but it could put your MW at risk. Sad that women ever feel like they have to lie to the HCP.

Cat- I'm so glad for you!

Tara- When I went in today I was surprised with the GBS screening. I thought I had another week or two. Nope. Sure hope I pass but they did say they'd retest if I didn't.

Carrie and Kelli- I've given up on that idea. I'll just send DH out for food.

AAM- today has started out wonderfully! I had my appointment and ultrasound this morning. I have nothing but good news-

* Baby is measuring at 5 pounds 10 ounces
* fluid levels were great
* Baby is head down and LOA
* Weight gain was perfect
* Blood pressure was perfect
* urine was perfect, no swelling at all
* only 1 CM dilated, high and firm

I went ahead and scheduled my next 2 appointments. The next is Sept 19th and then Sept 29th. My OB will be out of town Sept 22-27 so I was able to sort of skip a week. I WILL not deliver this kid until October! The less appointments the better for me because they just make me nervous anyway.

Oh and my meeting with our doula last night went well. I realized after she left that I never even offered her a drink... duh. DH got some of his concerns out and feels good about everything. She seemed excited and confident about all of our plans. We were going to cancel out next home visit but I'm wondering if we might still get together and work on a birth plan.

Tara, it probably can't hurt to call.

What a wonderful visit for you, Changed! Glad you're 'getting away' with less visits. Am trying to decide if I would be allowed to do the same.

Amusing randomness for you all: I work in a pharmacy, and being pregnant AND trapped behind a counter means I'm doubly public property, right? I've gotten lots of "when are you due" "what's the sex/do you know the sex" "how far along are you" etc. etc. etc. I have smart-alec answers at the ready for all these questions, and use them liberally when I can tell the patient is going to "get" it. Well yesterday, I was left speechless. Had a lady come up, glance at my belly, and tell me "OH! You are in a time of great expectancy!!" That wording threw me off so bad I had no clue what to say to her.

Yes, Carrie....you look absolutely beautiful. And pictures always add pounds and you don't look chunky at all!

I'd just ask for it when you get there. It's just a swab and only takes a sec.
wow, this thread gets away from me so quickly!

I'm 35 weeks 2 days, and I'm getting lots of feet in my ribs, so I think the babe is fully head down at least half the time, and probably transverse or diagonal the other half. I have an appointment next week, and I'll have the GBS swab too.

It seems like we all have our share of stress, I worry that I'll deliver early because I'm too stressed. . . but what can I do about that? THe baby seems fine, and in a week or two, will be OK if it's born. I'll feel very guilty if there's something wrong, and I feel like it's my fault b/c I didn't control my stress well enough.

I got a snoogle body pillow! : Oohhh, pure comfort, and well worth the money. My arm cramp/numbness thing is improved, partially I think because of the pillow, but also I started taking more valerian, and making myself a banana smoothie with protein powder every day. The Mw said I probably needed more calcium. Seems to help, anyway. . .

I'm going to get my house in shape these next two weeks if it kills me, I can;t stand the chaos anymore.

Well, my mom says it looks like I dropped.
Kids are sleeping and DH went out to do a couple of errands so I will attempt at an update.

It's been a fun couple of weeks here in my world. DH was away for almost 6 weeks (he's home now as of last Friday...YAY!) and last week I woke up in extreme pain. My left lung was hurting so bad and I couldn't figure out why. I tried to just 'suck it up' but I couldn't so I called my Mom to come down to help and called my doctor. My poor Mom panicked because I never call and ask for help unless it is an emergency and she drove the two hour drive in 1 hour and 15 minutes...she didn't even pack an overnight bag. As soon as I called she jumped in the car and left...I love my Mom! I went to the doctor and she immediately sent me to the hospital because she was worried that it was a blood clot in my lung, which I guess is pretty bad. Long story short....it isn't a blood clot (which was found out after having a CT Scan and many, many, many attempts at putting an IV in me). I was sent home after about five hours in the hospital and was told just to go back if the pain got worse.

I had a OB appointment today and she has the results...apparently the bottom part of my left lung collapsed (which she thinks is due to the baby)...so this baby is trying to kill me by suffocation! I'm feeling fine now but I am so ready to be done with this pregnancy. It was really funny though today at my OB appointment...she gave up trying to get the babies hb because he/she was so active that he/she kept kicking the wand, and moving away from it whenever she tried to get the hb.
Wow, Orion, how scary!!! So do they think your lung has expanded again? Glad to hear you're feeling better!!!! And to think I was complaining about being out of breath!

Carrie - yeah for a - GBS screen!

Lee - too funny about that lady! I wouldn't have known what to say either!

Changed - Glad everything went so well at your appt!

AAM: I haven't done hardly any nesting this week, my first official week to do so. Mostly I've just read a lot and taken naps! But it feels so GOOD to do that instead of run around at school and work; I didn't even realize how much that was taking out of me! I have, however, made yummy dinners and done the dishes everyday and Dh is loving it! Last night he said, "Man, I should have figured out a way for you to stay home a long time ago!" My cat is also loving the attention of having someone home all day long.

I think I need to get a list going of all the nesting things I want to do, room by room, so that I can get started on it. I've got my baby shower on Saturday, so hopefully I'll have some stuff to be putting away and then I'll also finally be able to go buy the things people didn't get us.
