Nooo! Not Yet! Pp Af...

I'm nursing round the clock and AF came a couple of days ago! DD is bare a month old. So unfair. I didn't stop the usual postpartum bleeding until almost 3 weeks. I have had a period every month since I was 13, I was hoping for a little break.

Anybody else had AF yet? Is it normal for it to return so quickly while nursing, pumping to build a stash and co-sleeping?

I have always had a spell of bleeding again after stopping with each of my babies. My midwife told me it was from the 'scab' coming off from where the placenta was attached. Crossing my fingers that is all it is for you, too.

how often do you pump? how often are you bfing? those are very important questions! I always get my period very soon, but with my first I used a paci and introduced solids too soon, I used the pump a lot also instead of putting the baby to help with engorgement. With my second, I also used the pump a lot instead of putting the baby, AND my second was feeding not so frequent like my first.

This time around, I am feeding as soon as I feel engorged. I even wake up the baby to feed AND feed on demand as well. I will have to let you know if this will help me not to get the AF sooner or later...

I bf full time and my pp af came back at exactly 4 weeks pp. And then again 4 weeks later... My ds was sleeping 5 hrs at a stretch and was given some formula while in the NICU during his first 48 hrs though I was nursing every 2-3 hrs and pumping on top of that. So... it is possible. I'm hoping that with this current babe AF will stay away for at least a few months.

Its probably just pp bleeding. It can stop and restart if you are doing too much.

me too, I had a bit of pp bleeding return right around 4.5 weeks (it had been gone for almost 2 weeks!) I didn't get AF back until 8-9 months with my first 3 kids

Glad to hear this! My bleeding has completely stopped and the last couple of days it's back. Boo!

My sil had this, too. It was just some more pp and not af. I'm hoping to avoid mine for a year again this time!!

I breastfeed on demand, which is every hour or two during the day with 3-4 hour stretches at night. I pump once a day around 10pm after nursing and get 8-10 ounces.

I hope that is what it is! Butwhen my bleeding was ending it was brownish, like the end of a period. This is bright red again, hmmmm.

My bleeding stop at 3 wks and I only occassionally get a spot here or there.
