my pagan reading list is enormous (local resources are scanty as we are in the Bible belt) - help me prioritize!

Glad to meet you. I am in the same boat.

I had quiche this morning at a Kindergarten parents meeting and within 2 1/2 hrs, I was VERY ill. Came out of nowhere. Took some Immodium so that I could pick ds up from school but I'm starting to feel horrible again.

Um.. ewww? I'd have to have some independent verification of that one. Is it possible that it went from her saying that about placentas to .. well.. that? Because that sounds WAY out even for someone with some rather extreme views.

a few things brought me back to paganism... Mists of Avalon - reread recently and then i discovered that Bradley and Paxson had more in the series... Cait Johnson's books, "Cooking Like a Goddess" and "Celebrating the Great Mother" also hit home though we are not vegetarian by any stretch of the imagination. ...... there is a UU church in town but i'm not feeling ready to celebrate the goddess with others yet.

it took me years to figure that out!

ewwww... surely that cant be true? where would you even get them from? How would you even go about asking for them? Can you imagine that conversation? By the gods how would you get to the mental state needed to eat it? let alone cook it? My mind is swirling, i dont want to know and yet i must....

With all the turmoil in the economy and such, I am planning a ritual of protection, abundance (no abundance of wealth) strength and guidance because I am feeling rather out of sorts with all that is going on. I need new candles, so off to our local shop this am and then tonight, I will spend time with my space and meditate.

Anyway, I hope that you're all having a great weekend and that's it's not pouring where you are!!!

poor mama! hey just make sure you washwashwash your hands, and ds too, LOTS, with soap, 20 seconds every time. you don't want conjunctivitis if you can help it!

jumping in to introduce myself... (my, you're a chatty bunch! i can barely keep up)
I've now got a kitchen altar, a new shelf in place of my curtain rod. ds had a great time helping collect "things" from the ground for our Mabon . ! |
We are a kitchen altar crowd on here (ok, we just love altars full stop
.. most of us made one during the pagan summer camp threads

(I'm betting this is a misreading of rituals that return unborn souls to the Goddess...so a spiritual rather than physical "offering", and a misreading of healing rituals done by the woman herself after birth/miscarriage/loss). But it's distrubing and probably not a great topic to dwell on.

Someone left a message on my machine. It was difficult to follow because she didn't say where she was calling from but I THINK ds has been assigned to a teacher. I think the teacher either didn't contact me or maybe she tried emailing and my email filtered it as spam.

I've decided instead of spending the time focusing on how mad I am I'm going to have a ton of fun with the boys this weekend and do what I want and if he wants to join in that's fine but I'm done waiting around for him to decide he wants to be a part of this family.

i LOVE the Avalon series. just love it. i am sure you understand how happy and surprised i was when i found out that Mists was not the only one!

| we ARE having lots of rain! and that's a good thing...let's hope it puts us up from exceptional to just *extreme* drought...sigh. |
: For rain!
: We have been in extreme drought for over 4yrs... it has taken our reservoirs THAT long to get back to the levels they were at that time. Our dams were actually down to a combined total of 15% of capacity.. and at something like 7% they become UNUSABLE! Yet a lot of UAV's were still out disregarding water restrictions and washing their stupid sports cars & SUV's
: (we're back up to 43% of capacity now.. so I MAY be able to fill up a small kiddie pool for the boys this summer
:
) and it has been amazingly soul cleansing for me. We found a worm and the kids thought it was fascinating .. and as he dug back into the soil it led to a nice talk about how everything is connected
I love those little moments. The kids were very careful to shade the little worm so he didn't dry out in the sun.. isn't that just the sweetest thing???

Equinox beads.
![]() We don't have much planned... an apple spoon bread and a three sister stew (bean, squash, very small amount of corn due to dd1's sensitivity) for dinner with a pumpkin ale for the bigs and spiced cider for the littles. We'll have a fire outside too and then bring the flame inside via candles to "kindle" the family hearth for the cold season. And since our family wreath got mashed in the move we'll make a seasonal wreath (with dried corn, dried apple slices and goddess figures, seed pods) as soon as I can find the bits. We're also cleaning out and filling the bird feeders and leaving offerings for the Fair Folk tonight in the wood altar (milk, honey, and apple slices). |
