I'm thinking of also talking to his principal. I don't know if she has any pull but I'm guessing she'd had more than me.

I don't know if there the music director has an office. Since it's in a school, I can't just walk in (against safety rules). I'd have to call to make an appt. Which is redundant. They never call me back!

I hope they fix this. What about talking to Guidance?

DOK- No words for how angry I am. :

Sage- Ummm, I hadn't heard of her but now, I'm not at all inclined to read her work. I am usually one to read things for myself, but I just can't handle anything that mentions babies, fetuses or related to that right now.

I tend to lean towards Goddesses more than Gods, and don't really have a balance. I do keep balance with other things- sun/moon, mother/father, land/sea etc

With all the turmoil in the economy and such, I am planning a ritual of protection, abundance (no abundance of wealth) strength and guidance because I am feeling rather out of sorts with all that is going on. I need new candles, so off to our local shop this am and then tonight, I will spend time with my space and meditate.

DoK- let us know what happens today. And DH reminded me that a letter to your state Senator can have a lot of impact too... his aunt needed hospice care and the program kept saying no. DH's mom sent a letter to the Senator's office and about 2 weeks later his aunt had a place (and a nice reply from the Senator's office). That sort of thing doesn't "cost" the Senator anything, and it looks good what with elections and all.

Welcome Bluets!

Cait Johnson's books, "Cooking Like a Goddess" and "Celebrating the Great Mother"
I lurve her stuff! She has a book on Tarot (specifically games and "family oriented" divination) that's fun as well if you like her style.

Wiki and wonky- One thing I try to remember when looking at authors (like Budapest) is the era they're writing out of. Yes, she is still writing but her views sort of crystalized in the 70s, when gender and gender politics was more...well... "defined" maybe? More "polarized"? I can't think of the right word. But I usually feel like those authors have such an intense focus on a certain goal that they can't let themselves moderate their position... they have to take it to the extreme. I imagine it's a hard place to live.

I know Budapest has a number of rituals related to the "darker" aspects of paganism and the "darker" moments of a woman's life. She does tend to glorify anything that is exclusively "female" (with a focus on the biological rather than the sociological, she is sex over gender if anyone is familiar with that terminology). So she has a ritual in which menstrual blood plays a big part since that is a "female only" source of power... and it was obvious, and shocking, and very "not appropriate" to the cultural norms of the world view she was protesting. As to the specific things mentioned in the wiki article, there are no citations and I couldn't find any verification. (I'm betting this is a misreading of rituals that return unborn souls to the Goddess...so a spiritual rather than physical "offering", and a misreading of healing rituals done by the woman herself after birth/miscarriage/loss). But it's distrubing and probably not a great topic to dwell on.

Someone left a message on my machine. It was difficult to follow because she didn't say where she was calling from but I THINK ds has been assigned to a teacher. I think the teacher either didn't contact me or maybe she tried emailing and my email filtered it as spam.

Will now have to wait until Monday.

*fingerscrossed* DoK!!

I am incredibly exhausted, which is not fair considering I am now getting more sleep. Trying to read is not going well because I just yawn, yawn, yawn. I have no idea what is going on with me, other than I probably ovulated. That's the only time I am every really tired, unless I am sick.

I hope everyone is having a great day!

DoK - :

we're having a rainy weekend indoors. i got to meet my friend's new baby today and that was wonderful. he's an absolute love and sooo cute! : I'm so happy for the whole family - his big brothers (friends w/ my DS) are so proud it's the cutest thing!

DP is being a crank today. he stayed home from work just to take a day off which is fine, but he was just frigging annoying to be around. he didn't do any of the house stuff while i was gone for 4 hours. didn't call the landlord to ask about a repairman because our washer is broken and didn't call his friend about giving me a tattoo tonight which he's been promising to do. He got his three weeks ago...i'm still waiting. Guess it's not a priority to him to call now that he has his. So yeah, he's on my you know what list. I've decided instead of spending the time focusing on how mad I am I'm going to have a ton of fun with the boys this weekend and do what I want and if he wants to join in that's fine but I'm done waiting around for him to decide he wants to be a part of this family. :

Anyway, I hope that you're all having a great weekend and that's it's not pouring where you are!!!

Think I got food poisoning. I had quiche this morning at a Kindergarten parents meeting and within 2 1/2 hrs, I was VERY ill. Came out of nowhere. Took some Immodium so that I could pick ds up from school but I'm starting to feel horrible again.

On top of it all, I think ds has conjunctivitis.

yep. i agree. she's a pretty big (or was) name in the Pagan community, or at least authors, and i'd love to see backup/evidence of that! that is pretty gross. *really* gross, actually.

welcome bluets! love the name!
i LOVE the Avalon series. just love it. i am sure you understand how happy and surprised i was when i found out that Mists was not the only one!
oh, the UU-- i go. they don't "celebrate the goddess"-- at least not in my area! they mention just about everybody, lol, goddess, jesus, buddha...you have to actually *work* to find your spirituality there. it's not spoon-fed like lots of other religions it took me years to figure that out!

oh, books:
1. Phyllis Curott
2. Phyllis Curott
3. Phyllis Curott

(can you tell i just her?)

THAT sounds perfect... I think most of us could use a bit of grounding right now, it's very scary would *could* be happening to the world with this economic disaster.

I completely feel you here. My dh has a problem 'self regulating' hobbies, we used to play diablo (computer game) and he played way too much. Then over the last 18months we've been playing World of Warcraft, and while we both play.. he is compulsive.. he would be getting not enough sleep during the day (night shifter) because he would get involved in game stuff. Then the grumping at the kids started if they interrupted him, then when he'd be home the time I got with him was if I logged on to play. We've had a couple of ultimatums that he either moderate the amount he plays or we'll just go do our own thing without him. All the while he was defensive. I think I finally got through to him last week though, we've cancelled our subscriptions for now (his idea) and he hasn't said a word about it since.. and has been far more involved since then. So hang in there, there IS hope that he can pull his head out. But definitely do not let life pass you by because he's being a bum, go out and have fun, and make sure you narrate every bit of it to him

: For rain! : We have been in extreme drought for over 4yrs... it has taken our reservoirs THAT long to get back to the levels they were at that time. Our dams were actually down to a combined total of 15% of capacity.. and at something like 7% they become UNUSABLE! Yet a lot of UAV's were still out disregarding water restrictions and washing their stupid sports cars & SUV's : (we're back up to 43% of capacity now.. so I MAY be able to fill up a small kiddie pool for the boys this summer :

We have spent the entire last few days in the garden planting veggies! Some in pots, some in my little garden bed (soil was crappy though so I hope all the amendments I put in the new soil help ) and it has been amazingly soul cleansing for me. We found a worm and the kids thought it was fascinating .. and as he dug back into the soil it led to a nice talk about how everything is connected I love those little moments. The kids were very careful to shade the little worm so he didn't dry out in the sun.. isn't that just the sweetest thing???

We'll have a fire outside too and then bring the flame inside via candles to "kindle" the family hearth for the cold season. And since our family wreath got mashed in the move we'll make a seasonal wreath (with dried corn, dried apple slices and goddess figures, seed pods) as soon as I can find the bits. We're also cleaning out and filling the bird feeders and leaving offerings for the Fair Folk tonight in the wood altar (milk, honey, and apple slices).

I want to move in with you.

I have been trying to keep up this month, lurking mostly. I wanted to share this experience I just had this evening...

DD is at dance for 2hrs on Friday afternoons and I usually sit in my car and study during that time.

Today I was watched by an owl while studying and I had no idea until a whole bunch of people were taking pictures of it with their cell phones! I slowly got out of my car to admire it and it turned its head (amazing) looked straight at me that told me that it was there for me. I felt it also project the energy that said "you know what to do, you are on the right track" and "don't be afraid". I felt incredibly close to this animal on a psychic level. It flew directly over me as it got spooked by a kid there, I don't know what else it would've said to me, though I know that there was/is more.

Like this was more than "hey look at that cool wildlife" sort of feeling, y/k? I was thinking about a specific person and event as I was reading too.

WOW that was so so cool!!!

Heather
that's wicked cool, heather! yes, i kwym, i have had those kinds of experiences. few and far between, but aren't they cool? and an owl, too...lucky you!

cari-- i know you're not doing WOW right now, and i don't even really know much about it, but my step-dd is doing this as one of her jobs; check it out:
