Hormone changes after wearning? Cycles? HUH?!?

For some background, a bit ago I posted this: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=954524 with regard to feeling generally GROSS for the entire month.

Last month my cycle was 32 (33?) days; my last period started on 8/6 (which was 33 days after the start of my previous period). According to my online period calendar, which had been averaging my cycles at 30 days, I was due for my next period on 9/5 (tho I was figuring more like 9/5-9/7).

Honestly, I had been feeling SO hormonal, evil, tired, bloated, hungry, etc. that I took a preg test this past Friday = negative. Anyway, this morning at 2am I got in from work to find that I had started my period (so, Day 27 I guess, since it was technically 9/1 at that point). I'm going to watch pay close attention to see if it varies from my regular periods these previous months (which have been super heavy and long).

So my next question is that I weaned DS3 within the last 3 weeks or so, though he had only been nursing for comfort and very infrequently the past couple months, could weaning be causing my body's insanity??? Otherwise, WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON WITH ME?!?!? I finally made an appt. with my midwife for 9/12, but I really feel like I'm going crazy. I'm so sick of feeling disgusting and nauseous and unsure of my body.

Comments, advice? Recommendations on looney bins?!?!?

Well I can say I totally sympathize with you, I weaned my DD at 17 months and was a freaking horrid witch for months. About a week or 2 after weaning I got depressed, I mean like we were starting to worry kind of depressed. Then that went away, then my hormones went all wacky and I seriously felt crazy. My answer is fish oil, I have been taking for a month again now and I am back to feeling good, I also think that exhaustion was a key factor too. DD has been cutting her 2 year molars forever and they finally have cut through and she's not cranky all the time any more.

I really would try fish oil, it is amazing how much better I feel.
