Summer Runs Into Fall and Dingoes Run in September... - Page 8

I'm here, but not for long!

mamabeth~ 28 minutes is very respectable, IMO. Of course, my 27 minute 5k probably wouldn't even get me into the top 1/3 here in Colorado. Sometimes I wish I lived somewhere where there weren't so many running/triathlon crazy people so that I might actually have a chance at placing. But then I remember that if I lived in those places, there probably wouldn't be very many races to run!

rm~: for getting your mojo back!

The car is packed, and we're ready to go. Well, once I get DS up and dressed, anyway. I'm hoping to make it about halfway before stopping for lunch and to let DS run around somewhere for awhile. : for Elmo working! Time to get little man up and head out for a quick bagel and coffee run. Next stop, Rapid City (I hope!).

Nickarolaberry - Take good care of yourself

Runningmommy - my name needs to come off the race list for the Toronto half in September

Homebirthmommy -

I was all set to get outside moving this morning when dh realized he has to work all day today. I would have gotten up sooner if I had known - I will try for some sort of forward motion late tonight instead.

I am back. I survived. My goal was to finish in an hour, and according to my ipod nike thing, I did it in 49:47. I know that the official time will be different because every time I ran past a clock, it was different. It was good, not quite as hard as I thought it would be. DH managed to pull in under 40 min. and the kids loved their races, although they felt that they were a bit short.

Will post a longer report later. Must go rest now.

WOO HOO MOONSHINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!

WTG, Moonshine!!!

My 18 miles got postponed today due to Hurricane Hanna. It's been raining like crazy all day. I need the nail-biting nervous smilie for this run. It's a new distance for me and the last 16 miler I did was PAINFUL!!! More mentally tough than physically tough though, so that's good right? Any words of encouragement/mantras to help through the low points?
Wow, moonshine. I wish I could do a 12:30 mile for 4 miles with a week of training! Way to jump back in with both feet.

2.5 mile run to report this morning - I ended up with 25 minutes on my hand, and I took it.

Elliot's napping. Karen's got a playdate. And I have a cup of wonderful tea to drink while coordinating DD's fall soccer team.
Geo..tea sounds good! It would be great to have dingo cafe today!

Moonshine...You did great!

JayGee..waiting to hear!

MB..WTG on your race!

I did a upper body workout today. I will be sore tomorrow.

Our little plans today fell through for the evening. WAaaaa! My house is tidy too (ok, just the downstairs!) You're all welcome to come over and mess it up though!

Ouch!

Ladies, I need some help. I think my new shoes are stinky. This week has been the first real running I have done with them, and after 13 miles, I had to stop my long run only 1.3 miles into it because my knee was hurting so much! It's on the outside of the knee, towards the front of the leg, but not the very front. Nothing else has changed, and I haven't had knee pain since beginning running. I didn't twist anything funny, or sleep wrong or anything! I even had a good, protein rich breakfast! Plus a Gu before going out. I had to walk the 1.3 miles back. I'm icing it, and then I was thinking of going to the running store I bought them from and asking them about it. I had a kid fit me for these shoes when I went in, and, well, let's just say, he wasn't the most attentive of salespeople. I had to lace my own shoes, he never looked at my gate with or without them, and seemed to be mostly paying attention to the other teen girl that was getting shoes for herself. The problem is that I don't know where my receipt is, and the time to return them has expired, not to mention, I've run outside on them. So, I am thinking it might be $90 totatlly wasted.:

Bec-I'd totally take them back. You might want to speak to the manager and express your concerns about how you were fitted. I hope it feels better soon.

Mommabelle-Dingo Party?!?!

Mamabeth-I'd love to go shoe shopping, but I have to go to a fish fry at FIL's church.
Yeah! HBM!!! Dingo party! Right now, I'm the only one partying! Too bad you are going to a fish fry! LOL

DH is watching football...I'm officially a DAWG fan, but I don't know..watching on tv is not my thing and I don't know who Central Michigan is, so I'm playing word twist and surfing the web!
I'm still partying with the giant bottle of wine you left at my house last weekend.... oh did you want that back?? also, gigi's dh left a cap, and jojo left her clifford book. I like MBelle's gift the best. a fish fry? how does that even COMPARE to shoe shopping???

I am SO SORE. I suggested we go to the trail and walk and dd could ride her bike for some fun family time since dh actually was off on a Saturday. Soooo...we go, and that girl is FAST! So I did another 2.5 miles of speedwork running alongside her bike (counting the doublebacks it was more like 3). I am shot. and dreading my looong drive tomorrow with a sore body. cold shower, maybe? or is it too late?

bec, I'd take them back, too. most stores will take running shoes back if they aren't working for you, especially with those kinds of "conditions."
Yeah, I am going to take them back. But, I'm going to wait a day or two, because my knee is killing me right now!
Mommabelle-You too can get into the fish fry fun. It's very close to your house.

Mamabeth-There is no comparison. I'm just already obligated. BTW-Are you volunteering at the consignment sale next week? There's free nursery.
MB...have an extra glass of it for me! I love shoes too! They are so not in my budget at the moment.

HBM..You are going to be close by!? Well, next time you are over this way, you must drop by! Bring all the dingo's your way with you too!

My arms are starting to feel the heat!

My ds is dying to play on the computer, he's tired of my scramble game playing!

moonshine - WTG!!! You totally blew past your goal! AWESOME!! :

karyn - you can do it!! Just take it nice and easy and start out slow - always better to do a negative split than wipe out at the end Do you do affirmations or dissociation or anything like that? some ideas in this article really helped me... I count steps and say mantras and tell myself it is all mental

Bec - i agree w/ the plan to maybe try one more time in them and then take them back and complain.
WooHoo Moonshine! Way to go on finishing! - but now let that be a start to bigger and better thing . . .

mamabeth - geez, now I want to have some dingos over here and see what they leave me . . .

RR - Turns out, I can run 20 miles!! I was sort of freaking out since I never did my long run last weekend, and the 18 miler was hard (but it was really hot and humid for that one) My friend was freaking out, too, just about the number. We drive about an hour to get to the Team in Training group and we were both panicking in the car on the way down. She had hardly slept the night before for worrying. All in all, it was sort of anti-climatic. We ran. And then ran some more. And then ran some more. And then we were done! We took it really slow, but still finished ahead of one of the ladies running 18, and just behind two others doing 18. For some reason, miles 16-18 felt pretty hard, but 18-20 was not bad, and I even felt like I had a little something still in the tank, which made me feel good about 26.2. We are planning one more 20 miler in 2 weeks, but technically, I'm theoretically now ready to run a marathon!
Great job on the 20-miler Jen!!!!! You are READY!

bec, you should definitely take the shoes back.

My race went really well this morning ~ 2nd in my AG! It was so cool and crisp out, actually cold at the start, but I never thought about it again once I was in the water. Great way to cap off the triathlon season. The splits:

14/216 overall
2/33 W40-44
Swim (500m) 12:30.8
T1 01:24.5
Bike (10 mi) 0:31:42.6 (18.9 mph)
T2 01:53.1
Run (3 mi) 0:22:11.8 (07:23.9)
Final 1:09:42.7

I'm actually very excited about 1/2 marathon training now, and ready to hang up my swimsuit and goggles for at least a few weeks .

I had hoped to finish in under 1:10, so I made it.... barely!
JayGee, you are soo fast!!!! congrats!

DrJen, WTG!!!

MB, dh told me he forgot his hat, and "it's his favorite".... *I'm* not too worried about gettign it back b/c he seems to have 1458762 other hats just laying around waiting for me to pick up. ANyway, yes, I'd like to get that from you the next time we meet up.

I had a great gym workout 2 hours ago. Lots of cardio (including some TM running).

My mom and gma left this am to return to NOLA. They might be back later this week.......

My SIL is 30-32 week pg with her 2nd. She just called me in tears b/c she is headed to the hospital b/c her BP is through the roof (she has BP issues in pregnancy) So I'm keeping my nephew (which I'm glad to help with)

way to go moonshine! you did it! :

wow drjen! you're doing it, you're doing it! way to go!

yay jaygee!!

so we decided to take the kids biking on a paved path through redwood regional park unaware of the fact that there was a big trail race happening there today!
it's the pacific coast trail run series and was a 10k, 20k, 30k and 50k race! i saw all the racers and their bibs and got a little yearning to find a race to do, but not for a long while. i need to get back in shape! i would love to try some trail running around here though.

then we went into town and got ds's hair cut at a little barber shop, went by my new LYS but it was closed for lunch but then i went to the wine shop to buy a gift for some family friends who have helped us so much during the move....and all was well until...we ran into the grumpy old hippie guy at the parking garage who yelled at us. he had a point - we had no cash and didn't realize it was "cash only" but we asked him to let us out and back in so we could go to the bank machine. it got ugly and the kids were rattled but we made it out by giving him all the loose change we had in the car and my wallet. our fault but still, ugh. the day was going SO well until that point!
