Summer Runs Into Fall and Dingoes Run in September... - Page 41

CT...can't wait to hear your results!

Jaygee...I would like to know some of your gluten free secrets. I grew up eating that way because my Dad has celiac, but now I find it really hard to do full time. I did it for 2 months at the beginning of the year and felt great. I had unbelievable energy! I read this blog occasionaly and her recipes sound awesome, but I haven't tried them yet. I know for sure my son can't handle very much gluten and that keeps us eating very little of it, but sticking to 100% is hard.

DrJen..your daughter looks just sweet!

mb..my goodness..what a whirlwind weekend!

Jenlove.. sounds like a fun concert!

This half training is really hard right now. I am running farther and easier than I ever have, but I'm pretty sure the Atl dingos will need to run ahead of me at the race because I just can't get in all the miles I need every week right now.

mamabeth~I agree with jaygee, sounds like IT band. That's exactly how my PT described my IT band when I first started with her...lumpy. If you can, get a foam roller and roll on it. It hurts like a sonuva... but it's amazing how much it helps! I also would do some self massage...I used cetaphil or aquaphor and just pushed as hard as I could for 5 minutes, followed by ice.

So, as some of you on facebook already saw, I'm sure, I went back to the ortho for my knee this morning, and as I expected, I get to have surgery on it. Yippee skippy. He's pretty conservative, but we've tried everything else at this point (rest, cortisone shot, PT, bike fitting). It's fairly minor, just a scope, but I'll be off running for 3-4 weeks, he said. Crutches for a couple of days, I can swim as soon as the incisions are healed, and on a stationary bike within a week. They're booking 2-3 weeks out at this point, so I'm hoping to get it done by the end of October. The winter duathlon series that I did last year starts up at the beginning of December, and I really want to do that! :

ETA details for the medical geeks: I have synovitis being irritated (we suspect) by plica, so he's going to do a pretty minor synovectomy with a plica excision and hopefully that will take care of it. Unless he finds something else when he's in there that could be causing the problems!

Oh Gaye, I'm so sorry.

Mommabelle-I'll run with you. I'm not getting enough runs in right now and I'm so slow.

Mommabelle~Here's another gluten-free blog with all crock-pot recipes, if you're interested. She gives the original recipes, but they're GF, so she always puts in those adjustments as well. I've been meaning to try some of her recipes, they look great.

Well crud, Gaye . What was the diagnosis? I had a menisectomy a few years ago (2001) and the recovery was quite fast if I recall correctly...

As far as the wheat-free goes, I am not gluten free, just wheat free (I eat oats, corn, rice, and other grains). I have not yet found a bread that I like, but I've pretty much given up sandwiches anyway. Still plenty of carbs with the aforementioned grains, plus potatoes and starchy veggies. Just let me know what questions you may have and I'll try to answer. Even 2 years into being wheat-free, I'm still searching for the right balance.

I guess you'll have to check in with Eksmom, I think she is the main blogger for the site so you'll need her okay to add. I'm sure it won't be a problem.

What a great bog! I love my crockpot too but I don't think I'd be able to use it every day. Well who knows? Maybe I'll be so inspired I'll give it a shot. But that's great and now I'm all intrigued about the gluten free thing too.

No rr to report here unfortunately. I took Ali G out in the burley this afternoon but we only did a little 5 miler to the library. I don't know what happened, I hadn't changed her helmet or the trailer or anything but the dang helmet was choking her again today and on the way home I had to take it off so she could breathe and then there was no getting it back on. too scary!

Alrighty, see y'all in the next thread!

And...we're back! Have I mentioned how much I hate it when MDC goes down??? :

I'd start a new thread, but I'm not creative enough to think of a clever title, so I'll leave it to one of you...

No rr here either. Today's my normal day off anyway, but had an extra day off yesterday just because I was sore from the race. I was even sore in the upper body thanks to all the steering I had to do! :

My new cell phone arrived today, and I've spent most of the day updating/setting up/putting contacts into outlook on my laptop so losing all my phone numbers never happens again! It's a pretty cool phone, I think I'm going to like it if I ever get it all figured out! See y'all next month (my favorite one, by the way)!

Before someone does start a new thread... if anyone would like to take over the race list, let me know and I will PM it to you. I'm thinking it's time to pass this one on to someone else... any takers?

eksmom - I'll take it for a while if you like. It would help me remember who's racing each weekend, anyway!

I'm off to shop - and pick up my new shoes, my marathon shoes in fact! I've run almost 250 miles in my current shoes, so think I'm going to run the actual race in new ones (exact same model/size though.)

Hey is this that bra you all wear?

LOL I could *almost* go running without a bra but I figured while I was shopping and saw it I might pass along hte sale.
for those with less than A cup, what day to day bras do you wear that actually fit in the cup size? (non-running). I've lost about 13lbs and my A cups don't fit anymore. sniff.

RM: I wear almost exclusively blue canoe bras. In the absence of nursing nipples I would not need a bra. LOL.

i've moved on to a tank top with a shelf bra, as i no longer fit into anything in victoria's secret - and refuse to shop for bras at the limited too.
do you find that too hot in the summer? or do you wear the tank top with shelf bra alone in the summer and under clothes in the winter?
yes - mostly just a tank in the summer - or a bathing suit! fortunately, i don't work in the summer so it's not a worry there.
