Oh the heartburn

I've managed to mostly avoid it this pregnancy. But all of a sudden yesterday, it started and has yet to go away. Anyone have any tips to ease the discomfort?

You know what's really helped me is ice water and lots of it--though, it did nothing for already having to pee constantly

I also have periodically used Stomach Comfort from Nature's Sunshine and that worked well.

The last couple of weeks I've been getting it...really depending on the food I eat. Chocolate and hummus really set me off. I've heard papaya enzymes really help, although I keep forgetting to take mine so I don't know if it helps. Look forward to hearing the responses here though!

I'm all about the Pepcid Complete...two at night before bed and I'm good for the next 12 hours...usually 24. The non-rx dose is 2 per 24 hour period, but the rx dose is 4 per 24 hours. Without it, I wake up choking on stomach acid and unable to breathe b/c of it.

Zantac 150 works wonders...I wish I hadnt run out of it last week and now we're broke!

Welcome to my world... i've had it since.... well... most of the pregnancy. It got worse around 6 months. I finally found something that worked to mostly reduce the amount i have. I use pepcid ac, and take one tablet in the morning and one in the evening. And believe me... if I forget one pill... i get heartburn right away. I have a short torso... so heartburn is a lot worse for me. lol, torso... what am i saying? I barely HAVE a torso.

Yeah... that's why i started taking it. Choking on your own stomach acid is just not fun.

Ice cold water and papaya enzyme provide some relief for me.

I was on 20mg of famotadine from my OB, but it didn't do anything.

TUMS was helping, but our childbirth instructor said it has lead in it so I switched to papaya. Sometimes I just eat those things like candy until it finally goes away. There's no limit on how many you can take, unlike with TUMS (I think you're not supposed to take more than 10 a day).

I was hoping that the heartburn would go away once she dropped a little and I guess it isn't as intense as it was, but it is still here. Ugh!

I have a prescription for a heartburn medication (10mg) and it has pretty much cured my heartburn. Sweet relief!

I think I'm a member of the short torso club - the heartburn is killing me. I'm going to ask my midwife if she can suggest something other than the many TUMS I'm taking each day. I freaking hate Tums. So pepcid and zantac are totally okay for the baby...?

OMG, me too. I'd never had heartburn in my life before this baby and it's so bad lately. Gaviscon really helps me.
